Lexapro Question

From what I was told by my family doctor, it is common with Lexapro to have your anxiety actually increase first. So don't worry, it is normal.

I'm still taking the Lexapro, too, been on it for 3 wks, and although I was speedy the first 10 days or so, that didn't last and in the last few days I feel a little depressed, but not bad at all. My doc didn't say to increase it, I guess when I go back we'll discuss that. But when I've had to increase other meds, like Welbrutrin, I have gotten the speedy effect as well as some increased anx for a few days to a week. I think that's pretty normal for these kinds of meds. Afterall, we experience the same symptoms when we start taking them, it's only natural to assume that an increase would produce similar symptoms. Good luck and stick with it and see what happens.

I was on Lexapro a few months ago (and stopped taking it on my own - bad move).....I have also taken Celexa and I have to say that Lexapro is great. It is tough getting through the first few weeks (esp if you are upping the dosage steadily) but the payoff is well worth it. I am hoping to go back on it soon so I will be right where you are! Best of luck and stick with it if you can - it will be worth it - I promise! Jgirl

I have had hardly any side-effects with Lexapro. I'm on 15mg. It's actually been working wonders for me so far. Well...on occasion, it gives me a slight boost of energy but...other than that...nothing. If the side effects are too much you could take 1/4 of a tablet until you feel comfortable with upping the dosage again. That's what the doc. did with me and I've had little to no side effects. Good luck.

I started Lexapro 2 weeks ago after the Effexor made my anx much worse. The first 7 or 8 days of it made me 'speedy' too. I was a cleaning fool. You should have seen me shovel out the horse stalls! LOL! The last few days the speeding effect isn't as bad, I think that my body is getting used to it. It has helped alot with my anx about driving, now I've had 4 days in a row where I was able to drive 100 per day and feel normal, not all in a panic. I am really grateful for that. Also the depression is improved and I find it easier to change my thoughts. I would assume that your speeding is due to the increase. Maybe keep trying it for a few more days and you might find that you get used to it and it's not as noticable. I started on 10mgs and that's where I am now. I am really hoping that this works for me, it sure has seemed to so far! Good luck, I hope it works for you, too!

HI..Ive been on 5 mgs of Lexapro for 4weeks...Last week I upped the dosage to 7 1/2 mgs, which I could tell really made a difference.I was like on speed,Couldnt stop cleaning, but tired at the same time.helped with the anxiety as well as the depression.About 4 days ago I upped the dosage to 10 mgs,and feel that Im back to having problems with anxiety again, have lost the energy also.I had a lot of anxiety the first 2 weeks starting Lex.Is this due to me encreasing the dosage and is normal,or maybe should I just go back down to 7 1/2 mgs since it seemed to work at that level. Is it possible that 10 mgs is too much for me..Im very sensitive to meds, guess having extreme anxeity has something to do with that.any and all feedback is very much appreciated...take care everyone :) CajunBelle
