Hi, all. I was just browsing posts by all the new quitters and I remembered a technique I figured out that really helped me during the early days of my quit. Thought Id share it here. Maybe it will help someone else.
As I went through the day, Id watch ahead by a minute or two, looking for approaching times when I would have lit up. For example: leaving a store, getting into a car, walking outside after work, leaving a restaurant, etc. When I saw such a time approaching, Id expect the mother of all craves to descend upon me and Id mentally prepare for battle.
Guess what I discovered? Anticipated craves are much less than expected. Often, they dont even happen at all. That was really a surprise. But it wasnt just an occasional thing. It was predictable.
Give it a try. If it works for you, thatll be great. If not, well, youre no worse off for the effort.
Keep up the great quits, everyone. :)
