Good morning Pop, Welcome to the first day of your smokefree life. I am not going to tell you that there won't be times that you will literally want to jump off of a building but that is going to leave a mark. I promise you quitting smoking will not harm you physically in any way, shape or form. It will give you much pride and sense of accomplishment knowing that you have and can beat one of the most addictive drugs on the planet - and it is a drug it is just legal. It warps our minds, robs us of our health and not to mention our $$$$$'s. So grab a hold of the many support members here and take this journey one minute, one hour, one day at a time. You can do this - if some of us here can give it up after so many years I know that you can also. Reach out for help when necessary, scream, yell, cry but do not light that life robbing smoke. Do it for you - you are so worth it! Stapop. I'm a 23 year smoker and quit cold turkey. Didn't think I could, never thought it would be me that quit! Look at the stats below. It can be done and you can do it too. Being smoke free is so awesome! Take a lot of deep breaths, use stress relieving techniques in your quit and drink a lot of water. Take it five minutes at a time and you will be fine. We can all do just about anything for five minutes. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life! Hang on tight, it's quite a ride :) Lady My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 571 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,428 Amount Saved: $1998.5 Life Gained: Days: 51 Hrs: 14 Mins: 3 Seconds: 0

Hi strapop, congratulations on your momentous decision to quit smoking. Have you done the online program here at SCC? It will help educate you about what to expect during your quit. It will help strengthen your committment. Yea, ONLY 27 years??? I'm 30++...really don't know exactly when I became an addict. But, I know exactly when I decided to take control back from this addiction. Hang tough. You can do it.
