Second Day

18 years ago 0 29 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Got up this morning felt great if not a little saddened by the onset of winter. I had beaten the first day, it has not been as straight forward as i thought but all the same i had done it. So with renewed confidence i set off to work. Five minutes down the road it all goes pair shaped, a car comes flying out of the darkness and almost has me off the road "stay calm stay calm" this happened twice more before the sun was even up. I am blessed. The shop now screaming at me " you know you want to, come on in who's to know". So i did, i got my morning paper and a pack of twenty, walked out side the shop looked at my reflection in my window and said to myself "you know", turned straight back around and took them back. Much to the bemusement of the shop keeper. But once again it was a small step in the right direction, i am not saying that its over and i am cured far from it but if i can remember the little victories and with the right support then i should have a much better chance of kicking this disgusting habit. I feel your pain Alexander....I tossed an entire pack out my car window on day 2 (after smoking 1/2 a cig)....but I didn't beat myself up. Keep fighting....the next few days are part of hell week...just remember your reasons for quitting, and picture you lungs and body healing...you will be stronger and healthier when all the dust settles and the smoke clears. Wow! You go, Alexander!! How cool is that, returning a pack of 20?? I'm like most people, and just get rid of them rather than trying to recoup my losses. I love your practicality! (Thinking that if I had a nickel for every FULL pack I ripped up, destroyed, flushed, or otherwise wasted instead of returning to the store, I'd be rich today!) peteg

I hear you loud and clear Alexander. Last night I stood over the garbage bag and ripped a package of 25 cigarettes into little bits! I WILL beat this addiction, and so will you. Congratulations on having the strength to take those ciggies back. I lost $7.75 because I made the mistake of buying them! But I look at it this way. I just invested that $7.75 into my quit. Have a great day! I am getting brave ,too brave perhaps. A friend of mine left a pack of cigarettes close to me last night I picked the pack up opened it and counted 3 cigarettes Took a smell and thought they smelt good. There were 3 in the box and I was tempted but didnt!!! I came so close and today have had cravings all morning. The message is keep your distance from Old Nick!! Good job, Alexander! I have stood in the store before and actually argued with myself over whether or not I was going to buy smokes. God job in resisting! I don't suffer from insanity---I enjoy every minute of it :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 66 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,323 Amount Saved: $528 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 20 Mins: 7 Seconds: 28

Good job. The insainty we put ourselves though is amazing. I lost my quit a week ago after buying a pack and smoked a few and then got rid of them. So I had to reset my qut meter again. So here I am again. Thank goodness the people on this site are so understanding and warm. Now I am praticing N.O.P.E. When they say NOPE that it what it means. Not One Puff Ever. I have never ever gotten by with one puff, it always led me down the path of smoking. I am so proud of you. Keep it up. By the way my grandson's name is Alexander. They call him Xander. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 65 Amount Saved: $18 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 2 Seconds: 7

Alexander. I'm proud of you for taking that first step of many to avoid going back to smoking. Be proud of yourself and give yourself a reward!!! You deserve it after throwing temptation to the wayside. Way to go and glad you came here to post your first victory over nicodemon!!!
