nicotine

I saw on the ABC nightly news last evening that cigarette manufactures are putting an all time high amount of nicotine in the cigarettes. Thus, creating it more difficult for people to quit. And yes, they are able to do this because the FDA does not regulate cigarettes. We all picked a good time to quit - in the future it may be more difficult. I like to think that I am striking against those companies! They aren't going to get me! There was a piece on my local Canadian news this morning but I only caught the last part of it. I was so disgusted I wrote it down on my list of why I'm quitting just to re-inforce my decision. This is what they said to the best of my recollection (can't write as fast as people can talk lol). "During a 7 year study, results show an 11% increase in all (not sure how many brands were in the study) brands of cigarettes making quitting for those who are trying or considering trying, just that much more difficult". After I saw that, I decided to start my med today instead of waiting. I may still keep my original quit date, but now there's even more reason to continue with my self imposed cut it regularly down, cut it back to the bone, cut it off and throw it out program. Anna: Isn't that just incredible?! And the worst part is the tobacco companies have zero shame -- they're deliberately increasing the amount of nicotine in order to keep we longtime smokers hooked, but worse yet, to make sure the young smokers get good and addicted. The first study on this came out last year, I believe. Now it's been recently confirmed. And surprise, surprise -- the tobacco companies still insist it's not true! Those ba****ds will not get one more PENNY from me!
