My quitter friends, Remember when our child started learning how to walk? How many times s/he fell down? How determined s/he was to try walking properly? Trying ... trying ... trying ... until one day, voila ... the child could walk on his/her own, without any help! In a sense, in my humble opinion, our quit is very similar ... We slip, relapse, and fail several times ... However, with determination, we should try, try, try again ... until one day, we can then be totally free from this nicotine addiction. So, dont traumatize and dramatize any slip/relapse we might have! Have fun, laugh at it, regain our strength and resolution, and continue the journey to total freedom... Never quit quitting, my dear friends! Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 740 Amount Saved: $370 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 18 Mins: 5 Seconds: 47

no more cig, I see what you are saying and agree in part, but at the same time, those who do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it. I believe that it's very important to look at WHY a person slipped in order to figure out how to NOT do it again. Just letting it go and not taking it seriously, in my opinion, is just asking for it to happen again, and if it happens a second time, there will probably be a third time, and so on... I agree that it's important to let it go AFTER figuring out what went wrong and what can be done to prevent it from happening again. Good post and I'm sure it will raise some debate, but you're right... the slips DO need to forgiven and forgotten in a sense so that we don't beat ourselves up over it and cause us to not want to continue in the fight. Crave the Quit! I love your post nmc!!! So true. Have fun along the way. No need to whip yourself if you fall. And even though someone may fall many times, doesn't mean they are doomed to repeat the same mistakes. Even lower animals are capable of learning behaviors with repeated practice. Never give up giving up!
