Well posted. It read like a friend. Good for you and good for us that you share. I can't get the thought out of my head of your kids. At the same time I get this warm, fuzzy feeling now that they have a little more of you - now and in the future. Very well said, Grace, my fellow Augustine. Thanks! :) You wrote: "... Quiting smoking is the best thing, best gift you can do for yourself...." I would like to add: "Quiting smoking is the best CHRISTMAS gift you can do for yourself this year!" :) Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 103 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,038 Amount Saved: $515 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 7 Mins: 2 Seconds: 20

Well, well, well. Today is 4 months of being smoke free. The longest I have ever been, even threw 2 pregancys. I could not be happier or prouder of myself. After sevaral attempts to quit, and feeling like I could not do it....I Have. A tip or two for you.. First off you must believe you can quit. My favorit quote on here. "If you think you can or think you can't. Your right" I love that becuase it is so true. Second, you need to believe that smokings is bad and will kill you. It is also doing damage to you and people you love. I know we all KNOW smoking is bad for us. Knowing is different than believing. I am young and healthy. Do not have any smoke related health issuse. So I knew smoking was bad, but had no real proof in me. So was easy to keep doing something that was not visible affecting me. I also knew that smoking could harm my kids. It was not until I heard my oldest gasping for air in the middle of night, that I started believing it. Once I started believing that I could quit, and that is was going to kill me, it became a mission to quit. I read anything I could, tried to get as much info as possible. When I found this place, I just thanked the Lord. Seeing the meters of other quiters, gave me the belief that it was possible. My first week was insane. Not just of withdrawls, but the world was throwing me all sorts of curveballs.(The devil was not wanting me to do this.)I did it. With the help of this place of corse. I posted like 50 times that week. That made me so much stronger. I knew that if I could make it threw that, I COULD MAKE IT THREW ANYTHING......SMOKEFREE. Over the months, I have gone days even a week without thinking of smoking.(Which is awsome considering my hubby still smokes.) I have gone even longer with cravin. I think of smoking briefly. Like you would think of a bad exboyfriend. Wonder how he is doing, but thankful he is not in your life. When I start thinking to much about smoking that is when I crave. This is why it is important to distarct yourself when that thought comes in your head. You can chose your thoughts. If you chose to think of smoking and keep thinking about, you may just smoke.. Or at least drive yourself into a frenzy. If you think that smoking is good, you wi

Nmc so true sbout Christmas gift of quiting. If are quit stay. I made a error in message above. I was talkin about cravin, I said I go weeks os with them.....Of corse that was suppossed to be WithOUT craves. Imallclear, You are right my kids get alot more of me. Sometimes I feel sorry for my hubby, who misses so much of them,by going outside to smoke. Its funny but I have more patience with them now. I can take my time and play. We do not have to stop in middle of something so mommy can smoke. My youngest just started walkin. Honestly smoking would be a huge stress at this point.Who has time to smoke when you are chasing after a newly freed babe. :p Life is good as a nonsmoker... Grace
