Thanks Phoebe, I just read your post as I was leaving for my class. With my wifes' support, a VERY supportive insrtuctor and a little extra Xanax, I made it through the class!! :)And it was just like you said, I worried more about going to the class than actually being there. I did have a couple episodes of being very uncomfotable, but I DID make it. Thanks again!!

I just read your post. I hope you have a chance to read this before your class tomorrow. I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago. I had to attend a 3 day business trip where I had to sit through meetings all day long. I worked myself up so much prior to the trip that if there was a way out of it I would not have gone. Like you, I spoke to my dr. a few days before and we both decided I should increase my Xanax for those few days. I had taken 1mg. in the am. then an extended release Xanax in the afternoon, which would get me through the rest of the day and night. What was surprising is that the worrying beforehand was so much worse than the actual event. Throughout the 3 days, I had not experienced one episode of panic. Good Luck

Update on my situation, I have talked to my Doctor and he said that it would be no problem to take up to 2mg of Xanax for my trip. It'll make me pretty groggy,LOL, but as long as I make an appearance, that's pretty much all that counts! ;)

Hey Melanie, again thanks for your concern. I do have a call in to my Doctor, I'm just waiting to hear back from him. I also am on a low dosage of Xanax (.5 mg) so even if I double it, it's still only 1 mg, which is the normal dosage I take at bedtime. I'm feeling a little more at ease this afternoon, maybe the Paxil is finally starting to "kick-in"

I know you know what I am going to say! Do not mess with your meds! Please call you doctor and tell him/her that you need something to help get you to this class. He or she will make sure that you are taking your meds correctly. Sometimes an increase in medication can create major problems!! Please be careful!! Melanie

Hey Melanie, Thanks for the words of encouragement and advice. I really didn't leave enough info about my situation though. AS far as work goes, they don't have a problem with me taking some time off ( with-in reason). They know about my problem(s) and are pretty cool about it. The problem is that I am a technician in a New Car Dealership. The manufacturer I work for requires that each tech receives a certain amount of training each year to be accredited (sp?) and allow the dealership to perform warranty work. I'm the only tech in the shop trained to do a lot of this work. So if I miss this class, I'll lose 25 years of credits, and won't be allowed to do ANY warranty work, therefore, I'll be rather useless to the company. I hope this helps explain my situation a little better. My plan as of now goes like this. My wife is taking Friday off from work and is going with me to the class. I'm gonna double my Xanax dose that morning and hopefully be "zoned-out" enough to make the trip and class. I REALLY hate to mess with the meds., but right now it seems like the only option I have! Sorry for the long rant, I am just way over the edge right now.

Lester, If you feel that you are going to lose you job due to how you are feeling today, please contact your doctor! He/she can either talk to you with regards to the effects of your medication and can write you a medical letter for a leave of absence. Hope this helps? Melanie

Hey all, I've really been having some major PAs the last week or so, and started on Paxil on Monday. I haven't even been able to go to work for the last 2 days. Today I found out I HAVE to go to a class (for work) on Friday, about a 45 minute drive from home, then 8 hours of class time! Geeze, I can barely leave the house right now! If I don't go, I'll probably lose my job (been with this company over 10 years). On a scale of 1 to 10, my anxiety level is about a 32 right now! ARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH! :8o: Man , this really sucks big time.
