All Our New Quit Buddies Smoking is just a habit; a BIG addictive habit but a habit. To quit, one must first realize that indeed one is smoking; sometimes habits go unnoticed. Secondly you got to want to, I mean really, really want to quit because your quit will not be handed to you. You have to put in the effort and I am sorry for this; however that is just the way it is. There will be many times during your quit process that you are going to want to light up. You just have to be determined to walk away from it and train your mind to think of something pleasant. There are plenty of ways to distract yourself when an urge strikes, find the ones that fit you. The urge pass and will come back again, again especially those first several days. Each time you stand up and beat the urge you grow stronger. We all will agree that time heals. It is a matter of discipline and finding other ways to spend time. You got to want it. You got to discipline yourself to believe in yourself. You have to stand up to those urges and do not cave. It is a battle, and a battle that YOU, yes YOU can win. All of us at this site are here for you and we would be quite proud if we could help you to achieve your freedom. Please share your thoughts with us:

Phil, you're feeling the void, replace the habit with something else, walks, exercise, fill your time so that you don't get bored with the extra time on your hands. It doesn't show but say you smoked 20 a day x 10 min = over 3 hrs of free time. Go for it Phil, you can and are doing it one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,808 Amount Saved: $480 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 21 Mins: 32 Seconds: 1

Hi stickin - It takes focus and the desire to Quiit, which must be stronger than the desire to smoke.....to have a forever Quit... Coping skills are powerful and needed on the Quit journey. They will save your Quit time and time again, as will a list of distractoins to go to in the tough times. Your Quit will mirror your life. Are you patient with yourself and others? Are you compassionate and forgiving with yourself and others? Are you willing to set boundaries and say no when you need to to take care of yourself? Do you live your life in your own power, or do you give it away and complain... Do you stand up for what you believe is right or do you stay quiet and safe... When you make up your mind to do something, do you usually follow through no matter what, or are you easily distracted or do you give up easily? Do you take good care of yourself and give yourself a break, embracing your own humanity daily? Don't forget - we're human, we get to be human... Humans make mistakes... AND - do you have the courage to speak your truth, whatever that truth is? Your Quit will mirror your life, and your choices in life... The good news? We can make new choices each moment! How's your life going today...? Is it time to make new choices? Is it time to speak up and take a risk? Anger can be an amazing and very powerful tool... and it can also be a dark enemy that's nothing more than a black cloak of fear... Allow anger to propel you into taking more loving care of yourself...and to opening your heart and having more compassion. And, anger turned inside-out ~ is depression... so awareness is a Light we need on this amazing journey each moment.
