New med started!

Hi Sarah! Thanks for your reply. Yes, I've been taking the Ativan, I do get to sleep. But I'm so tired all the time and my brain feels fried. I've only been taking it for 4 days now, so I guess that's really not enough time to see if it's working or not. And the dr has me weaning off the Wellbrutrin at the same time. So who's to say if it's the lack of Wellbrutrin or the start of the Effexor that's causing the problems. I guess I just have to stick it out and see how it works. I'm so frustrated, I've been getting behind on everything around the house and farm. I haven't changed meds in over two years, so I guess I forgot how hard it can be. I sure hope this works. I have been trying so hard. Thanks for listening and have a great Thanksgiving!

Hopeful, Do you think if you took a benzo like Xanax or Ativan it would just take the edge off a bit? Maybe you could get some sleep if you took it. I have no idea if you're already doing this but just thought I'd suggest it anyways. I am scared to take Xanax with the Celexa even though I've been told it's fine. Good for you for being able to drive all NIGHT!! Now that would scare the hell out of me! Anyways, I hope the side effects of Effexor eventually wear off and it starts working for you. I know that's the one my Dr. highly reccommends and he's very experienced with anxiety. Hang in there! Sara

Thanks, Sarah! It helps to know that other people do feel the same as me. I have taken the Effexor for 2 days now, it makes me feel weird and I still have the same symptoms, confusion, dizziness, and being tired but wide awake at the same time. The funny thing is that even though I'm having some scary symptoms, I'm not panicking at all. Usually these symptoms would throw me into panic right away. When I took it yesterday afternoon, I had to lay down several times, but never actually fell asleep. I was off work on Monday and Tuesday, but I have to go in today at 5pm and DRIVE all night. This is one of our busiest nights of the year and there's no way I could ask off or leave early. I'm afraid if I take the med this afternoon that I won't be able to drive. I was thinking of waiting to take it after I get home tonight about midnight. This has got my anx up, I hate the pressure.

Hi hopeful I can totally relate. I try not to think about all the time I've wasted with this illness because it just makes me depressed. I also think that I am trying everything in my power to overcome it and it sounds like you are too. More, we cannot do. We will somehow be better, I hope, for having gone through this someday. I keep thinking there must be a higher meaning behind the suffering and one day we will find out what it is. Body sensations drive me nuts too! I've already had a brain aneurysm, pancreatic cancer, and of course, the old constant heart condition!!! I guess what doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger. We'll see...hang in there! Take care Sarah

I went back to the dr today as the increased dose of Wellbrutrin he had me on made things much worse. I tried it for 2 weeks like he said, but the confusion, anx, pounding heart, dry mouth, and not being able to hold a rational thought in my head, was putting me over the edge. I had been on Wellbrutrin for 2 years and it worked pretty good until recently. That's when he upped the dose. Since that didn't work :8o: he's started me on Effexor. I'm starting that today. I am getting discouraged, because I'm trying so hard at this. I'm tired of it ruling my life again, I have so much to do and I waste way too much time on this stupid illness. I feel every little twinge my body makes, I swear not a feeling or sensation gets by me. It just serves to make it worse. AARRRGGG!!!!!!!
