a pat on the back for me today

17 years ago 0 613 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Bren: Damn right you deserve a pat on the back! The wonderful thing about dogs is that they love us completely uinconditionally -- that's what makes them so special to have around. She'll forgive (an extra treat or two couldn't hurt, huh?). You did a great job and it will serve you well the next time you feel the same way. Congratulations! Dear Bren.. Very good that you were able to squash that craving! Can I make a suggestion? Please get rid of the butts in your vehicle.. they are only serving as a reminder and may trigger a craving. Do you really want to suffer needlessly? Do you have any distractions in place for yourself when you are going through your cravings? Hobbies? Do you like long walks? Talk to a close friend who knows you've quit and can support you? You did good today.. but,, get rid of all things which are cig related.. ashtrays, lighters, matches and ALL cigs..butts or packages! ((((((((((Hugs))))))))) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 135 Amount Saved: $54 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 18 Seconds: 29

Hey peteg.. you are disagreeing with me?!?!? LOL! It's ok.. you're entitled to your opinion..it may be wrong..LOL! just teasing you! And you know what? I never noticed the "crosses"..always saw my pretty little angel with wings that were sparkly.. Oh well,, I'm keepin' her.. she's been an enormous help to me. And as you say, if the smell or the butts in the car or a baggie or whatever it is what it takes to stop you from smoking -- then all the power to you! Hope you're doing well peteg.. you know I worry.. :) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 145 Amount Saved: $63 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 19 Mins: 35 Seconds: 46

Monica, I'm good. Still miss the smokes. Anyway, darlin, it's not about us. It's about our brother Bren, who has probably run screaming from the room by now. Bren!! Are you still here?? Monica will make you some chicken soup and I'll make you a drink. We are the very model of modern eccumanism. You just can't smoke -- that's the only rule, and it's a good one. peteg

Wow -- when did this group turn so violent?? First a 4-year-old kid, now a dog! Can't wait to see who gets it next --- either Mom or apple pie! Oh wait! Don't forget the mom who gave her kid a baggy full of butts and says, "Smell these, Bucko." Wonder how she feels about wire hangers??? Hey Monica, how you doing? I think you're the best, you know, but I disagree with your advice; I emptied everything, but the residual smell, especially in my car, really helped me stay quit. I've heard the baggy thing, or a coffee can filled with butts, can really work. For me, it was more nostalgia -- kind of a long, perverted good-buy -- more than the big gross-out. Now I do get grossed out when I smell smokers, but they probably always grossed me out, you know? I'm just so friggin self-aware now. Sorry Bren == this was meant for you, but who can resist the young lady in the flowy, sparkly gown and flappy wings?? (Um Monica, you are aware that your wings have little crosses all over them?? Thinking of making the big switch, or did you think they were plus signs or T's???) Oh yeah, Bren --- I'm all about you. And your little dog too. Seriously -- congratulations on overcoming a major hurdle. Good job! I really hope it makes it easier to overcome the next big one. peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,046 Amount Saved: $440 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 18 Mins: 44 Seconds: 26

Good for you, Bren, for keeping your quit. I know how tough it can be at times. Lots of deep breathing and water really help. Anytime you feel the "craves" coming down on you, just post. Someone will be there to pick your spirits up! You can do this. Cigarettes Not Smoked

hello friends, i feel pretty good right now, but earlier today i came real close to going out & buying some ciggs. i felt like the tazmanian devil. that craving i had today was really horrendous.i screamed at my poor dog, for getting in my way. she must think her owner has gone crazy. well, at the time i felt like i was. i left the house to go buy ciggs. ripped my patch off, but once i got in the truck, i smelled the old butts i left in the ashtray, and instead of going to buy ciggs, i went to where i work, and ranted & raved to a supporter there. after about 10 minutes, i finally calmed down. anyway, i went back home, apologized to my dog, and put a fresh patch on. i feel lots better now. im drinking my chamomile tea,and talking to my friends. thanks for being here bren My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 119 Amount Saved: $16 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 12 Mins: 9 Seconds: 0
