Im sure mine are mainly all in my head, next to the screw that is still a lil loose from smoking all these years. When I get in the car, it was my habit to light up, that is when its the worst! I think others do have the craving for the taste and some, including me too, are also the craving for things to taste the same as they did when I smoked.. like today my hubby and I ate at Arbys and everything tasted like %*%^$! I used to love Arbys, but now the taste buds are different (healed) so things taste differently. Rainie, Like you, I am using Chantix, and as you can see from my Quit meter (a little longer than you)I feel comfortable to speak about the cravings. I remember quitting cold-turkey, and the cravings stopped within 2 weeks...I was quit for ten years...so this wasn't an attempt. The psyche part of it was just as hard to deal with though. Within one month I can honestly say I felt wonderful...no more cravings..period. Now: I'm not thinking about grabbing my cigs and lighter as I make my way to my morning pee break on arising, but I do want something to eat. I find that I feel nervous at certain times and mental situations throughout the day. I use straws to chew on, and try to drink beverages. I keep mentally reminding myself that this is another smokeless day. And it's working. I am to remain on the Chantix until March 30 when I go back for the follow-up visit with the doctor. I hope I will be able to quit taking the Chantix by then. I'm not even going to try right now to give it up. I know too well what grieving feels like...and when you give up your cigarettes...Grieving is going to happen. I do not want to deal with the depression, and I've expressed my concern to the doctor about this. I just can't believe how easy it has been to lay them down this time. Rainie-It will get better as time passes, but everyone is different. Live4my2boyz-LOL! I tell my co-workers that I am amazed that my car actually starts when I turn the key even WITHOUT the cigarette in my mouth! Driving was such a trigger. I never put my car in drive without lighting a smoke first! I keep a spit cup and a sunflower seed stash in my car at all times! Hi Rainie - I'd like to say... stay in the moment... Getting ahead of yourself can really bring on some huge craves that may not even fit in your quit as we are all different and our quits are also so very different. Build your coping skills and get some distractions on hand to go to immediately when the going gets tough. I promise you that if you are willing to stay in the present moment, trust yourself and ground yourself and your quit (and take the energy you are worrying with to build some coping skills, and read here - especially old posts) - you will be able to handly anything that comes. Smoking is addiction to nicotine. You smoke, you're addicted to nicotine - don't smoke & you get nicotine withdrawl + cravings. Stop smoking completely, withdrawl stops & cravings subside. So whatever quit method you choose will determine how long this withdrawl period lasts. Can someone tell me about cravings? If the nic is out of your system in lets say 2 weeks. What are the cravings I am reading people talk about. Are they really meaning the Psych Game (my name for it) or is it really both? Do you think it is safe to say that the psych games are what I will be dealing with in a few weeks? I need to know how big a bat to carry to whop it a good one. the "action" of smoking becomes habit.....however, your "mind" remembers full well, the physically pleasant effects of the nicotine high.....so you are dealing with both physical and mental addiction. Be on guard...it's insidious....you must be commited and determined Katy
