Thoughts on day two

Sounds positive. If it helps I would list nicotine as an allergy whenever possible, even when not asked, like in Chinese restaurants - like instead of telling them you are allergic to MSG you could tell them you are allergic to nicotine. They won't care, probably won't have to adjust their dishes for you, but it might be fun. I love your positive attitude. You're gonna have a great day. Tryagain, Your lungs are telling you enough is enough. It is time for you to head their warning. It is possible you've developped an allergy but only your doctor can determine the root cause of this problem. Please consult him/her. Start looking at where, when and why you keep lighting up. Keep a journal if it helps. Just as the members have said, you are an addict. You have a physical and mental addiction to cigarettes. Understanding your addiction and it's role in your life can help you break free. Be sure to take advantage of our online quit program. It will help you start preparing to deal with cravings and teach you what you need to know about quitting. The members of this site have also done an excellent job sharing their experiences and their research with the group. Start browsing and reading up on the journey of those that have come before you. It isn't easy but it can be done! Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

Yesterday was my first morning of waking up and not having a cig. I fought off the cravings with gum. My chest pains and coughing were much better. Last night my hubby said it was too hard and he thought that one cig would steady him. As soon as the smoke reached my lungs, searing pain ripped through my chest and I had a coughing fit so bad my face turned red and my eyes bugged out. He put out his cig and said he wouldn't do that again. Of course, this happened when I would smoke too, and it didn't stop me! Here's a question. Could I be allergic? After over 40 years of smoking could I have developed an allergy, perhaps to reformulated cigarettes coupled with a severe addiction to those same reformulated cigarettes? Is such a thing possible? Today it is day two. True to the time table this morning my lungs started to clear of mucus. I slept well and woke up with a very positive and happy mind. I feel more rested than I have in, well, I don't remember. My husband said I had a peaceful night and didn't struggle to breathe once. So far which isn't terribly long, I have not had a craving so bad I couldn't deal with it. I am free of pain. Which may have a lot to do with improved spirits. Despite all of this, I know from past experience that I could easily say gee I feel so good, it's time for a cigarette, it won't hurt me now. I'm so bothered by this that I sent a message to the support specialists asking if this is happening to others. I think last nights experience with the coughing fit needs to be your visual motivation. Maybe you could be allergic...heck even if it is a possibility...go with it. From here on out you are DEATHLY allergic to smoke. You are so bad that you can not even be in the same room with it!
