Hey Golfer...I have to agree about the fear part...but personally I think Quitters are some of the strongest people ever. I think that someone who conquers an addiction has strength that some people can never imagine. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Joe, Good post. It's not easy to make the transition from smoker to non smoker but many like you have prooved that it can be done! A little fear is a natural human reaction to what is unknown. But just as you said, why does the unknown have to be scary? The grass is greener on the other side and many quitters will testify to that truth. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team
I'm convinced that smokers are amoung the weakest people around. They need a crutch.
Throughout my quit one of the toughest "junkie" arguments has been 'When you smoked, you could handle anything'. I was strong until I quit smoking. The realization that tough times were hidden from instead of dealt with is difficult for most. We like to think of ourselves as adults who are in control of our lives. Whatever life throws our way, we take it on the chin and proceed forward. Since quitting, I realize that I didn't deal with anything. I simply fed my addiction and hid from issues. As long as my fixes were maintained, life was good. How wrong! I was not ok and life was not good. I am an addict who used that crutch to get through each hour of life for over two decades. After tasting the freedom of being quit, going back to that kind of life is where the real fear is for me. Great post in true Golferman style. Thanks Joe. Shevie, Are you sure you aren't my long lost twin??? ;p Great reply to my post! You touched on several important issues and really expanded on what I wrote. Thanks for your insight and input. Lady, your revelation that you as a smoker were really hiding from issues was outstanding. I wonder how many smokers have a clue as to the power this addiction has over them? Great stuff!!
