PS: I work afternoons and nights so she is only out of our sight for a whole twelve hours a week as my husband picks her up asap (we don't want to leave her longer than 2 x 6 hour days) and even that low of time, I still can't protect her! I try to get here but I work too many hours. My daughter is in daycare (she's starting kindergareten in 07). She has been for 16 mos. She has a major peanut allergy. We're on daycare #4, anyhow, I know I need to keep to the point, smoking.........Well, daycare #3 sent her home with peanuts at Xmas (the teachers, no less!) and the director didn't have time to deal with *us* so we called Child Protective Services as it was a peanut free facility (false sense of security). Daycare #4 was also a peanut free facility and guess what, she came home with peanuts again. We handled it very calmly (though I was quaking inside - she could die if she ate peanuts). We did not call CPS this time, we calmly talked to the school and they're going to try to educate the parents who sent in the candy...............I realize that not everyone should be subjected to my kids' allergies so I see both sides. BUT I DID NOT SMOKE. And if there was a "reason" for me to light up, the past 24 hours have been it. Thanks for listening! Marie And hope you're all ok! FFM, Congratulations on your first smoke free month and for passing this test with flying colors! This must of been a very stressful time for you. You kept your quit & we are proud! Time for a reward! You may want to contact your public health department. They usually have piles of educational material for peanut allergies that you can pass along to your child's daycare. We are here whenever you need us. Post as often or as little as you need. Keep up the great quit! Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

that is a big step to be able to handle that kind of a stressful situation and not resort to smoking for the "calming affect" (I should say, FALSE calming affect). That hurdle is going to make you stronger in your resolve not to pick up any death sticks again.. congratulations freedom! My husband also has this alergy. A VERY scary one. No wonder you were terrified. It has been a big eye opener to me - someone who thought allergies were just a way to not eat something you didn't like. I grew up with cousins who all got away without eating broccoli because they said they were allergic. ANYway...back to the topic, I get how scared you must have been because I have seen my husband's throat close and his lips swell, etc etc etc. Good for you for not smoking your stress - imagine you have decided you want to be around when that precious daughter grows up!! Kudos to you Marie.
