panicking about my slow heart rate

21 years ago 0 9 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Cecilia and Jacqueline, Thanks for your kind words and advice. Just by being able to discuss my feelings with others who have the same problems makes me feel better. I have always had a low heart rate and low BP, I have asked my GP about it before, she has never been concerned. It just scared me that it went down to 48 bpm, once I got out of bed and started walking around it went up to 62 which I felt better about. My main problem is health anxiety but I am trying realy hard to deal with this without taking any meds. I am doing the 12 week programe which has helped a lot.

Hey there Engish rose. Glad to meet you. I think that your daughter is quite right. My pulse can get as low to the mid 60's. from what i have been told it is quite normal. You must be relaxing more and that makes your heartrate go down to a normal level. We are just so used to having a fast heart rate due to the panic attacks that when we do get our rate normal we forget what normal was. If you are that concerned why don't you ask your family doctor about it. I am sure that he will say all is fine. But just to ease your mind you could check with him anyhow. Jacqueline

Rose, Have you tried walking for a bit? That should help your anxiety and also raise your heart rate. I like to stroll around the block, I don't walk fast, just casually and take in the scenery, but it does help get the circulation going. Cecilia

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my problem as its been realy getting to me all day. Last night I had chest pain from acid reflux and I took my blood pressure which was 140/72 but my pulse was only 54. when I woke this morning I retook it and my Bp was 110/60 and my pulse was down to 48. I contiued to take my pulse intermitently during the day, it rangrd anywhere between 62 and 86. My daughter who has done nursing told me not to worry about it as she says when I took my pulse I was very relaxed, so it was bound to be low. I have been feeling panicky all day whenever I think about It, I have even been scared to go out which is A real let down as I have been feeling more confident for the past 2 weeks. Do any of you have this problem? Has anyone got any advice they can give? Thanks Rose.
