Thanks MomMom I am now on day 2 and I have had a few cravings, but I have taken someone elses advise and did deep breathing through them. Was a great help. First time in all my quits that i feel I can make it. Thanks to Chantix and this support group. Could not do this without it.

Hi So does anyone know why a discussion would locked by the support team? I was a bit confused about that one.

Hi Tutti Doing just fine so far. Not smoking that first one in the morning kinda got to me, but so far getting through. I keep telling myself that I am a non-smoker now. SOUNDS GOOD. I found it kinda neat that I did not have to go outside on break today to smoke and hence I would not get soaked because its raining here. Baby steps, I am going to take baby steps through this. Thanks for the support and I'll post often.

Hello, Thanks for the support. I don't look at Chantix as cheating because there is not nicotine involved here. Its not really a NRT. I am not sure what you would call it, but if it works, so be it. All the help we can get is greatly appreciated, for all of us. Each of us has to use what we can to help us get through this. I applaud anyone who decides to quit, since obviously I know how hard this can be. I wish everyone the best of LUCK :) If I can be of any help to anyone I am always available. So far so many people have been helpful to me and for that I am grateful!

Hi Thanks for the support, yes I have a plan, I have been doing the steps that are on the left, and I am using Chantix. I was just having a really stressful time at home right now and then with my wonderful head trying to tell me that this isn't the time. Well you are right, your addiction will always tell you its not the right time. So I am going to try and keep busy today and get through this day and i am sure tomorrow will be better.

HELP Having a really stressful day. Tomorrow is my quit date and I am really doing a number on my head today!!! Plus I have some really stressful things that happened last night at home and I am feeling very fulnerable today. Need to get past this day and I think tomorrow will be better! But have to get past today first! I am a very emotional person and so problems usually send me into a tisy for at least one day. Once I get past that I am fine and I can deal with life again. So here I go looking for ways to get my mind off of the quit date so i can stop driving myself crazy.

Sometimes the fear of quiting is even worse than the actual withdrawal and quiting process. I "quit" many times and my fear this time was so strong that it took me seven years from my last attempt. I am using chantix so I think that is almost like cheating because it has really helped me. But I did get to the point that I had to quit because the fear of it was driving me crazy. It gets better each day... go for it you will feel so much better in the long run. Angelcapp, I can't take Chantix or any of the NRT's for health reasons. My quit was also "cold turkey." Whether you use something or are cold turkey, that fear is there right before the quit. I know it's the addiction messing with our minds but I also wonder if we're so afraid of failing. Of course, that could be the addiction talking too. Complicated, huh? I do know with me the longer I thought about quitting, the more worked up I'd get. I've done better to just jump in there. Use those tools to the left and stay busy but go ahead and jump on in the pool with the rest of us. You're going to be fine. This thing isn't bigger than you are.
