Slivers, I think Lady's likening of cigarettes to a best "friend" or being in a bad relationship is right on the money. They were always there, good or bad times. It takes a lot of courage to break out of the relationship that is killing you and suddenly be on your own. Looky there, your standing on your own two feet!! You don't need no stinkin' other half. You are whole just the way you are, and damn proud of it! I find I have so much more time on my hands, which tells me how much of my life these cigarettes consumed, in time and health. Leaving a life with a "friend & lover" for your own good is hard, but a little strength, creativity and imagination will help fill the voids. Hey Slivers, chill out! Rome wasn't built in a day. I would recommend that you go back smoking, don't punish yourself for that, keep reading and pysching yourself up to quit again. You may have lost a battle but the war ain't over until you give up hope. I sympathize and wish you all the best. Slivers, The connection between caffeine and smoking? One of the side effects of getting nicotine out of your system is that caffeine has a stronger effect on you and stays in the body longer. Hence you may feel tension and find it difficult to sleep. Drink water. Silvers, Congratulations on making it 6 days!!! That is something to be really proud of! You are not an idiot because you have already set a new quit date. In your heart you know that quitting is the right decision and it's clear that you really want to do it. Everyone is here to support you and have given you good advice. I think windy's suggestion to read allen carr's book would really help you. It will give you way more than just your willpower to fight the cravings and beat this addiction. I read the book this past weekend and it's really helped my cravings and calmed my worries. However you do it, I am here cheering for you to succeed. Hey, you made it through six full days - which shows you DO have what it takes to DO THIS! The fact that you already set your new quit date is also a good thing. Stay focused and be stubborn - this addiction is NOT going to win. We'll be here to cheer you on! THAT IS WHAT THE MIRROR IS SAYING TO ME TONIGHT. HEY IDIOT!!! I DIDN'T MAKE IT THIS TIME AROUND. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY. I POSTED AMD READ ALL THE POSTS ALL DAY, I PAMPERED MYSELF, WALKED, BAKED, PICKED UP MY OLD HOBBIE, EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF AND NOTHING HELPED ME TODAY. MY WILL POWER JUST WENT OUT THE WINDOW AGAIN WHEN I WENT TO THE STORE AND BOUGHT ANOTHER PACK OF CIGARETTES, BUT THIS TIME I SMOKED THE WHOLE PACK TODAY. TO THE POINT THAT MY TONGUE AND THROAT HURTS!!! I AM ASHAMED OF MYSELF BUT I AM GOING TO TRY AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME MUCH HARDER. GOT TO THINK MUCH HARDER ABOUT ALL THE BAD THINGS CIGARETTES DO FOR YOUR HEALTH. PLEASE HELP ME AGAIN WITH YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT AND THIS TIME I WILL LISTEN, I PROMISE!!!! I HAVE SET MY NEW QUIT DATE FOR THIS FRIDAY THE 19TH. OH MY GOD, I CAN'T BELIEVE ALL THE SUPPORT I READ HERE TODAY. AT LEAST NO ONE YELLED AT ME LIKE THEY DID HERE WHEN I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T MAKE IT!! I FEEL SO SAD THAT I LOST IT, BUT THEN SO HAPPY AT THE SAME TIME THAT YOU ALL CARE ENOUGH TO ENCOURAGE ME TO START AGAIN. JUST ONE QUESTION, I DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF DIET COKE!!! ALL DAY ACTUALLY, DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A CONECTION WITH ALL THE CAFFEINE I CONSUME AND TRYING TO QUIT AT THE SAME TIME. I KNOW I DRINK TO MUCH BUT KIND OF HOOKED ON IT TOO!!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE POSTS, AND I AM GETTING EXCITED ABOUT GIVING IT ANOTHER TRY. AFTER 6 DAYS I JUST COULD NOT HANG IN THERE. GUESS GOT TO GO THROUGH ALL THOSE BAD WITHDRAWAL SYMPTEMS AGAIN!! HOPE I LEARNED MY LESSON THIS TIME. Hey, don't you call our friend Slivers an idiot! It's an addiction and you CAN conquer it. But everyone here is right, Slivers, you have to WANT to rid yourself of the addiction and you have to BELIEVE that it is the only true and righteous path for you. Remember always that smoking has absolutely NOTHING positive for you. Quitting has innumerable positive aspects -- count the ways for yourself. Hang in there. Keep the faith My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,037 Amount Saved: $800 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 4 Mins: 44 Seconds: 40
