Hi thanks for all your messages! I'm glad I'm not on my own. I haven't had a bad day. I managed to do some bits and pieces.. then I sat and had a cuppa.. and found it hard to get going again. Sorry I forget to tick the 'show my Quit Meter' box. Lol @ Windy. I know what you mean that's a really good idea. :) Katy - You'll have to come over to mine first. :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 334 Amount Saved: 71.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 49 Seconds: 25

Does anyone else have trouble at times to actually do anything while quitting? I have failed so many times when trying to give up because it seems to be if I can't have a cigarette when I've finished doing a job then I can't seem to make myself get up and do anything. I've got further now than I ever have. I'm not so bad when I'm with people. But when I'm on my own I have so much that needs doing, housework etc, but I end up sitting wishing the time away. Or if I start something I really don't want to stop. I really dread stopping. I've been ok this weekend, but when the kids are at school and OH is at work and I'm stuck on my own I just hope that I can move and do something! Claire x

Sorry Kaitilina, I didn't see your post before. Yes, thanks, I will try that. I love tea and will treat myself to some different ones, something to concentrate on. :) I shall have to push myself. I'm worried because I had such a good weekend it will be a big downer if I can't manage tomorrow. I would go out but I have to do the housework. I'm glad others know how I feel because when I have spoken to other people they hadn't felt like that. Which made me feel pretty isolated.

:) Thanks Josie. I think I get on better when I'm with others because I try to keep a happy face on for them, then when alone I don't have to, so I wallow in self pity! I think tomorrow I'll put my cd's on loud while I work. Then I'll come on here... hopefully more than ten minutes later, lol. Thanks for being here. :)

This is very normal. I went through this, and kind of walked in circles around the house, confused as to what to do with myself. Some ideas are, pick a drawer and clean it out and organize it. You can purchase a couple of magazines and have them on hand, and sit and read them for 5 or 10 minutes. Another I thing that really helped after meals, is to make hot tea. I purchased all different kind's of teas and a real tea pot for the stove. It takes time for the tea pot to heat up and while it's heating up, I pick my tea, wash a few dishes, and wipe off counters leisurely. You have to find little things to fill the gaps in between projects. We used to go and have a cigerette for a break, since we are non smoker's now, we need to find other things to do for ourselves to fill those voids. The first week of quitting, I went through many many cups of different teas. I hope this helps. Welcome exile! You are doing wonderfully well! I have found that if I'm not keeping busy that's when the cravings really creep up on me hard. So I always make sure that I have something to do..and not always work related at home. I'm talking about various hobbies, reading, watching a movie, quick calls to say hi to friends etc etc.. Then of course I have all the housework stuff. Like other's have said,, my house is spotless, laundry is all done, clean drawers, floors, carpets, OY VEY! LOL!! It's so clean! LMAO! Do whatever it takes to not sit with zero to do or to think about. And when you do think and you've run out of ideas I've found that a good 1/2 hr brisk walk does me wonders! Keep your crave cart close by with all your snacks.. healthy and unhealthy ones too..hehe.. When ever you need us,, we are here! I think we should save our Reward Money - Hire a housekeeper that cooks and forget about ever doing those chores again! Exile - I soooooooooo know what you mean - cigarettes were our reward for doing a nasty job (Now we've lost our reward!) Time of day is different for everyone, but my cravings are worse at night and my energy is low...so I tend to do unwanted tasks at the beginning of my day and reward myself with a coffee and a good magazine. I still take breaks between jobs (I HATE housework) Yesterday was my worst day in a long time....My hubby was away and I was back home by 4 p.m. with NOTHING to do....I didn't want to to anything....I ended up crawling into bed for awhile because I was really cravin....Sometimes it's just good when a day is over. I really need to do more planning for times like this....a little bit of alone time is good...but I think too much is not such a good thing! I'm not sure where you are in your quit exile....but it does get better. The first week, every day is a bad day....but eventually there are more and more good days and life without smokes becomes more natural...It just takes time ... we will get there! I am another who can relate to this big time. I work part, 2hours at lunch time every day, so I have time at home too. And right now, I feel like I've lost my reward for doing miserable chores like housework. I have no ambition to do right now. Haven't got much more ambition to make meals either. I look for super easy meals that don't take much thought. So I don't know who's pig sty is cleaner, mine, or Gonna's. I'm hoping to have a clean and tidy house by Christmas. We'll see.
