Hello Everyone, Just checking in over the Holidays. I am currently 51 days smoke free and on vacation this week and home with the kid's doing all the family festivities over the holidays. I hope everyone had a great Holiday. My thoughts on 51 days quit are to numerous to put in one post...so I will summerize. I love being non-smoking, but there are times I feel like something this missing...or I get very very bored. The coping mechanisms and distractions are so important during these times for me, and work very well. This morning I had a big "crave" or "trigger" that came out of no where. Same routine, nothing different...patch perfectly in place, and yet all I could think about was dropping my daughter off at her volleyball practice and picking up a pack of smokes as I passed the gas station and smoking just a couple. The thoughts were relentless.....all morning and in the car ride to school with my daughter. How did I make it home without stopping at the gas station....pure will power (and a small prayer in the car). I'm home now and no smokes within a 10 mile radius...so I'm safe, and the crave/trigger is passing nicely. So to all the newbies, stay vigilant, stay strong and fight each crave and trigger as if it were the first. These are the times (like this morning) that quits are given up on...we think we aren't strong enough, we think this is never going to end...we are just warn down from holiday festivities, stress, and yes even boredom in the middle of all the hussle and bussle. Craves and trigger's can come out of nowhere.....always be prepared know you are stronger than the addiction and you will succeed and live a smoke free life. I'm on day 51...and taking it one day and one week at a time. I'm doing whatever it takes. Happy New Year Everyone!!!
