That is really good stuff. I never thought of "accepting" a craving feeling. That is what we are doing, though, I guess. It is really a great way of looking at things instead of "fighting" a crave. For me, as I think about it, when I accept the off-kilter feeling I have and not trying to change or fight the feeling I have, it goes well. Those are wise words and I'll come back to this thread again and again. Nice analogy, Healer. You're advocating just a stay calm and ride it out strategy. I think you're right. More good mental strategy. It's actually been a bit of a hard day and evening for me. I really thought I would have been through the worst but the head games were stronger today. Those sort of sudden craves that come at you as ideas when your guard is down. Some thought like "go get a pack of smokes" when you aren't expecting anything and are in a situation where you normally would have bought some smokes. Those are the tough ones. You don't expect them and then, bam, there they are. I rode them out, though, and they trailed off. I wouldn't say they trailed off to nothingness but they did trail off. Still doing well, here, though. Tomorrow morning I'll have 5 full days. No way am I ever smoking again. I'll tell you when I went cold turkey I looked at the patches, the gum, and the lozenges I had on my coffee table and said I'm going to have to quit by just not doing it. I had to just stop smoking. And that is what I did. God, grant me the Serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the Courage to change the one I can, and the Wisdom to know it's me. If we have the courage to persevere we will succeed. Quitting is so worth it.
