welcome scara, its great to have you here and all the best tomorrow with your quit. like yourself i used to be scared of failue, tryed to quit so many times and could only manage a month at a time. what i've realised and come to believe is somking is an illness, its cunning and powerful. its always waiting for me to fail and pick up. by relasping those many times in the past has built my knowledge and increased my determination to quit. i dont want to die - i want to live a long and healthy life, sharing it with the people i love. also fear of failure just adds more presure on your self, pressure and stress you could do without. try and think of you quit as doing it one day at a time - if your struggling break it down to one minute at a time - for the next minute im not going to smoke. also posting on this site helps. i found it extremely helpful to come online every day and check in - rant and rave if i had to. you may find it helful to come on line daily and share you fear. will be thinking of you take care ann My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 90 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,268 Amount Saved: 387 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 23 Mins: 33 Seconds: 58

Scara - Sorry, but this isn't a "good" quit smoking site, it's a "GREAT" one! I'm glad you found it. I have quit so many times before and waited for hubby to quit too. But think off all you have learned in those quits. Use those tools to suceed this time. Think of how many times a toddler falls while trying to learn to walk. Do they give up? NO WAY. They are determined to get up again and again and finally you can't even keep up with them. ;) Find the determination and you can do anything! Welcome August

I think everyone deals with the fear of faliure...but just remember you never fail in this journey until you quit trying. Just know that it is a choice to smoke...and when you decide to take that out of your life just don't ever look back. Congrats on your new journey...we are here for you. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Damned the torpedoes, full speed ahead. Lindsey - Look at me...it obviously is doable.
