Ah, so it sounds like you're withdrawing from the outdoors. Be careful about using rationalizations to justify 'hiding' indoors. Do you have a plan whereby you go outdoors on a regular basis? Are you following the Panic Program?

We actually kept the ride home somewhat light. Of course, my hubby is a great support. I really just felt like being outside was too much for me. When we got home I felt so much better, like I was safe. I've started to put off things like errands because of my feelings like I'm not safe when I'm out. It's so irritating!

Hi Mama. I think that sooner or later we all have those downer kind of parties in our repertoire. Bummer, huh? I can understand your disappointment and discomfort, but I wonder if you had gone from the party to some other place, (like a restaurant with your husband), would the end result have been the same? Sort of like salvaging the evening. Was the talk on the ride home all negative, and thus feeding into the anxiety situation?

I used to be really social. I could walk in any room and find a conversation, meet new people and feel perfectly comfortable. I never felt out of place no matter where I was. My husband talked me into going to a party at a friend's parents home this weekend and I found myself just itching to get home. I couldn't seem to find one person to talk to and everyone knew everyone else except for my family and I! My husband's friend didn't even welcome us really. It just seemed like I was standing out like a sore thumb and no one wanted me there. My husband felt much the same. We drove an hour on the freeway (one of my biggest fears) to get there and ended up having to drive back before I had dealt with the anxiety of driving there! I was almost sick by the time we got home and spent most of the night feeling panicky and anxious. I'm just noticing how I used to really be a social butterfly and now I am finding myself a home body. It's a little disconcerting... Thanks for letting me vent... any advice will be appreciated! Mama
