Back HOME from the Hospital!

17 years ago 0 43 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Boy what 2 days in the hospital will do to you...I *wanted* a smoke SOOOOOO BAD! But, I got over it quick! I think my Doctor put me through every test there was...or so it seemed! Colonoscopy, Upper GI, COPD/Respiratory, Ultra sound, CT scan, MRI, blood work, and more tests that I don't know what they were called, or remember what they were for...LOL! I haven't gotten all the results back yet...will be about 2 weeks for most of them, but I did find out that I have some serious issues with side effects from my diabetes and my feet & legs that I didn't realize were AS serious as they are! I have MULTI tumors in my feet, and the Doctor said it is a wonder that I can even stand on my feet, much less take steps at all!! My Reflux disease is worse than I thought, and it appears that PART of the problem comes from my Diabetes oral meds! My doctor says we will have to work on that after all the results come back...so as not to make things worse. Anyway...I am ordered to bed rest for the next 2 weeks until I go back to see the Doctor for the results! So, I will be scarce for the 2 weeks, but I will sneak in every couple days just to see what's going on! I had a funny experience on my way home from the hospital today! I stop by the convenient store where I always bought my cigarettes...the little guy behind the counter always had 2 packs of my cigarettes waiting when I was ready to check out! Today, I bought 4 boxes of 'Lemonhead' lemon drops, a citrus soda, and a bag of Cherry slices for my great great niece & nephews (an 'as ALWAYS' tradition). When I got to the counter...there sat my cigarettes! I picked them up, and handed them back...then picked up the Lemonheads and said "These are cheaper, last longer, taste better, and are HEALTIER! I QUIT smoking almost a month ago!" The little guy behind the counter handed me my bag and said, "I'm proud of YOU! This is on the house today as your reward"! I felt SO proud, and happy that it was worth losing $3 to the clerk! I AM a NON smoker...AT LAST! Talk to you all again, soon! Congratulations on keeping your quit thru alll those tests at the hospital but then you can't smoke there but I guess it would be tempting when you get out. The colonoscopy was not my favorite thing to do. Betty2, That is awesome! Great job on almost three weeks, especially during all that stress. See, everyone knows how hard it is to quit - even the guy selling the cigarettes! Way to go :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 778 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,575 Amount Saved: $3501 Life Gained: Days: 57 Hrs: 15 Mins: 37 Seconds: 29
