What is normal?

18 years ago 0 189 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I just want to thank the folks (as we say in Texas...haha) around here for the kind words, and making me feel a little less like a nut case!!! I know it sounds really wierd, but right now...emotionally I feel like the people on this site are my best friends simply because when someone says they understand what I am dealing with...they really do. Please know that I appreciate each and everyone of you, and also give the SCC credit for my successful 16 day quit. Well I am very proud to say that I am on day 16 of my quit. However...I still do not feel like myself. I currently feel as if I have no motivation. I just want to sleep all the time and isolate myself from everything. I am fully aware that my body is going through a major healing process in addition to a HUGE metal battle that is going on in my head. So I guess what I am really wondering is what exactly is normal anyway??? I know who I used to be when smoking was such a part of my life, but now maybe I am not so sure. How long does it really take to get over the depression and feeling the need to isolate yourself from you routine to avoid certain triggers??? I guess I am just feeling a little confused and maybe a bit sad today. Not really sure why...but all I wanted to do was sleep today. When Monday came around I really thought I was going to throw myself into my work, but that didn't happen. I guess I have been avoiding that too, incase sudden stress came as a result of that. I just don't know how much longer I can "HIDE OUT". I feel like such a mess, I just don't know when I will feel normal again, and honestly if I even know what that is??? Really today was a good dayI just cant wait for some sort of motivation to come over me, so I can start to get back on track. Any ideas? Well like I said, today was a much better day. I worked out...made me feel great. I bought some vitamins to start taking tomorrow...hopefully this will help with energy. I was still tired today and desiring a nap, so I took one when I picked up my little boy from school, but all in all it was a GREAT day. I don't want anyone to think that I am not doing okay...because really I am. I am really having no issues at all with cravings or triggers, my issue is that I just don't feel like myself. Before my quit I went all the time non-stop and stayed busy and really never got sad or felt depressed. But some of the information that I have read says that the effects of smoking will mask our emotions so often during a quit you will feel very of balance, and that is exactly how I feel. Thanks for all the concern...and the support!!! Pink, You have received some great advice here, so take what you need and keep it close. Yes, this is normal and it will pass, it will get better and you will be a better you. You body is healing and you need to take some you time. Your body and your mind need to relax and ease into sleep for awhile and start each day fresh :) We are always here to listen and we are proud of you, grasp these changes and see the new and healthier you :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
