I was really sick recently, and couldn't even think about smoking Iw as so nauseaous. I decided when I started to feel better to quit. I might as well, thel evel of nicotine in my body had already been greatly decreased. I've smoked maybe a half a ciggerette a day for 4 days or so. Tomorrow will be my fist day completly without any C's...I'm really scared and nervous. I've been crying alot latly, and feel amost "cheated" that I can't smoke anymore even though I know that's not true....is that normal? Everyone can call me S-J, that's what my friends call me. I'm 19 1/2 and live in pembroke pines, Fl and am in my second year of college....I want to quit so bad...I guess that's it....ANy support or advice would help, I'm DESPERATE!!!! Welcome and prepare yourself for tonight. As someone said before, don't take that smoke break, just work through it and earn more tips...lol. Actually why don't you take a walk for your break, breath in that fresh air and feel how wonderful it is to not be smoking. Keeps things around you like some mints or toothpick or straw and definitely stay away from your smoking friends. You can do this....stay strong and keep those POSITIVE thoughts close at hand. Yes, S-J... feeling like you are being "cheated" is normal for many people when they quit... And, the fastest/easiest way to go back to smoking is to maintain that mind set! Instead of thinking of not smoking as being deprived, think of not smoking as something you choose to do. Then, instead of rewarding yourself with a smoke, reward yourself with something postive. Set yourself some goals and plan out what your reward will be when you get to each milestone. All this may sound a bit crazy, I know... But, spend some time reading through this site and workin through the quit tools to the left. It helps. It works. And, you can do it! Feel free to post and reach out for help anytime you need it. Everyone here has been where you are, knows what you're going through and is willing to help. Hope you're feeling better soon! Hi Sj congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. You've done quite a lot already. Work the tools on the left, set up your quit meter, and you're all set. Drink a lot of water, be prepared with mints, gum to carry with you all the time. post here before doing anything you will regret, you are only 19 now is the time you are giving yourself a great gift. :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,092 Amount Saved: $288 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 14 Mins: 26 Seconds: 55

Hi S-J I know how hard it is in the restaurant business to stay away from the smokers - it seems like everyone who works in that business smokes! But You can quit. You sound like a strong woman who is working and going to school and has taken control of your life! You Can Do This!! Work the quit program notebook - don't hang out after work at the restaurant (especially if it has a bar) for a while until you feel stronger in your quit. Have your quit aids handy - sugar free candy works wonders and twizzlers! Drink lots of cold water. Come here for help - Rusty has written some great posts on what to expect when you start out - Coping with day 1, coping with day 2,etc. Come here to vent and support - We'll be here for you! S-J, everything you have described is normal. We all battled with ourselves and with our junkie side to get where we are. You can get there, too. Half a cigarette a day is really awesome. I don't know that I could have done that. I think you are very strong to have done that. So what's do be scared of now! Look what you've done already! I suggest that you go through the quit program tools over on the left and read lots and lots of posts. Most of us attribute our success to staying here as much as possible and asking for help whenever we needed it. If you feel like you're going to cave in, come here instead and ask for help. Please know that this can be done and I think you've got the strength and the drive to do it. I smoked for 40 years....that's how I know you can quit, too. Good luck!
