Nice to see all the support and people here. I've been trying to quit for a while, hopefully this place will help. I'm on my first day and already feeling a bit spaced out, so please forgive my message, I don't seem to be able to think about what I wanted to say, but anyway, Hello and nice to meet you all. WELCOME CRUSH AND SERENITY, NOTHING IS EASY BUT IF YOU REALLY, REALLY , WANT IT, IT CAN BE DONE! I SMOKED FOR 35 YEARS. I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OVER THE YEARS. OF COARSE I ALWAYS FAILED. I HAVE BEEN SMOKE FREE FOR 18 DAYS NOW. I FEEL REALLY GOOD. BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE STOP SMOKING CENTER HAS BEEN GREAT. HERE WERE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT. REMEMBER TO COME HERE OFTEN. WRITE DOWN WHATS GOING ON WITH YOURSELF, OTHERS HERE DO CARE AND WILL OFFER GREAT IDEAS. GOOD LUCK, REMEMBER TO KEEP BUSY, DRINK LOTS OF WATER, AND DON'T FORGET TO REWARD YOURSELF, THATS MY FAVORITE PART, HEHE! Hi Crush, this is my day 1 as well. Maybe we should be buddies??! I totally undrstand the spaciness thing. I am there too. Have had some tough moments - but am looking forward to my "reward" for later on tonight. Hot bath, big glossy magazine (I love them) to read. Also, I made up a large poster. Wrote the numbers 1 to 84 at random around it with a space beside each and bought myself some funky stickers. I am looking foward to sticking my first one next to number one tonight before bed. By the time there are 84 stickers, I will have been quit for 12 weeks. hang in there - and hope to see you around. Crush, Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on deciding to quit! You body is going through carbon monoxide withdrawals, that spaced out feeling should start to dissipate soon. Be sure to start working through our program and navigate through our forums. You'll need a list of distractions, coping mechanisms and a reward system. Start thinking about your triggers. When do you smoke? Why? Boredom? Stress? How will you get around these triggers? Start looking at your routine. Is there anytime throughout the day you associate strongly with smoking? Ex: In the morning, I always had coffee and a cigarette. Now I have coffee and read the paper. Keep us posted! We are always here to help! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team
