I tend to think it to be a shorter rather than a longer process. Think short and it shall be that way. Don't get hung up on the doing, just go ahead and do it, don t\think about, just do it and forget about it. It will be silenced when you make it so. Distract, don't dwell and have it be done with.

KayH Of course it does get better, easier and easier as you go. You have 33 days, six weeks, that is a long time. It doesn't have to take 3, 4, 5 months or two years of uneasyiness. I have read in "Quiting for Good" you should be in fairly good control after 3 months. Six months you are there and you maintain your guard. I am there as many others like Marie, PrinceeC, and Mama. That is all you need to do is to stay with the program. Stay positve, don't consider the longer term. You wil be done with the significant urgers by three months. It is really what you make of it, set yourself mentally free eary as Princess, Marie, and Mama have done. Adopt the spirit and control your mind. Sit back, relax, close your eyes, and control your thoughts. Try it! Love you! Loving the quit!!

It's sure gotten easier for me. I get urges now and again, but they are fleeting. Those I can handle.. that i'm not so darn sick anymore is what's the blessing. The shear nervous and emotional turmoil i expereinced a few nights was the horendous.. those are gone, and in fact, I got into a little spat with my husband the other night, and it didn't even turn into a big dramatic "I need a cigarette!" production, and it was all over like normal people before I knew it. Once I start experiencing the incresed lung capacity and stop being so sleepy all the time, then i'll be all set - I hope. LOL

That is why everyone's quit is different. I am more of an analytical person. I tend to reason things out. Maybe that is why it was harder for me than some others. Doesn't really matter. No matter what kind of person you are or how different your quit is from anyone elses, quitting is possible. N.O.P.E. is how we all do it. One day at a time, one step at a time. Doesn't matter how. All that matters is that we don't smoke. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 403 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,079 Amount Saved: $1410.5 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 14 Mins: 27 Seconds: 37

It does get easier. However, I wasn't over it in just 3 months. They say it takes 12 to 18 months to quit smoking. I believe it. Each milestone gets a little better. Six months, I started feeling great. One year was awesome. I believe the quit is a process and we have to go through all the stages. Positive attitude does play a key role. It took me a long time to get over the cravings. A lot of it had to do with perspective. Once I started working on that, things got a lot easier. Quitting is a soul searching, life changing experience. Enjoy it. It's very easy for my now. There is no way I'd smoke a cigarette no matter what. It's not part of who I am anymore. I used to smoke, not anymore. I am an ex-smoker. It does get easier. Yes it does. Cigarettes Not Smoked

I am always amazed at how little I think of smoking these days. I was a pack a day Marlboro man. Started as a young child and smoked for nearly 30 years. Quit so many times. Flushed em. Broke em. Trashed em. Made deals. Broke deals. Fished em out of the trash and dumpster dived. Lied. Snuck. Hid. Most of all felt like a loser and unhealthy. Ashamed. And then, just did it. Cold turkey. No help. Only the will to do it. And I did. And never looked back. I am some days afraid it will come and haunt me again. Would it be the stress or could it be that I will be near someone that smokes? Hope not. I will keep at it and hope you will too. I feel GREAT! And it will be one whole year on my birthday, August 31. Do it. And Live. Well. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/31/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 343 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,874 Amount Saved: $1029 Life Gained: Days: 53 Hrs: 5 Mins: 21 Seconds: 41
