Dont Let Fear keep you from quitting.

I smoked for 25 years, then quit for 5, then like an idiot started smoking again, and with that came the coughing and wheezing, tight chest ect..So i put out my LAST cigarette 8-6-06. I know alot of people fear that if they give up cigarettes, that they are giving up a pleasure or prop. Just get it in your mind that you want to quit and that you dont NEED a cigarette to make it thru the day. Cigarettes dont do anything for ya except make you miserable and eventually kill ya. Cigarettes do not fill any voids - They creat em! So if you think you are giving up something when you quit - think again - you're not giving up a thang! You will save money and you're health will improve. I think its all in our minds, if we seriously want to quit, we will......and I have! Nice post Rock! Welcome to the board. I have never not smoked for longer than 3 months from when I was 15... So 5 years is unimaginable. All I know is that EVERYBODY i say that i have quit smoking to - they all say that they want to quit one day.. I dont think anyone wants to smoke forever. So you picked a good time to quit.. Now is as good as time as any. Good luck with your quit! REad and post here often, it works!! Wow Rock.. Five years and then you started back. There are times that it is so tempting to go back to smoking. That junkie doesn't quite seem to die completely. Pops up at the most opportune moments. It is fear that keeps me from taking another puff. I don't ever want my world to revolve around a cigarette again. Life is too short and too precisous to waste away like that. Glad to see you quitting again. I sure remember that fear... I was wondering about you and how you were doing today. I'm glad to see you're still going strong. There's not one doubt in my mind that you're going to do this and that this time you'll stick with it for a lifetime. :) NOPE My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 552 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,055 Amount Saved: $1970.64 Life Gained: Days: 58 Hrs: 12 Mins: 43 Seconds: 58
