hurstk, You gave me such a lift tonight. Your story made me laugh and smile at the same time. It must have been the day for out little pea brains to try and think. How dare they. We need to find a quite place and just relax. I think it was great that you threw those cig away. That tells me that you want to quit more than you want to smoke. You said " I DO NOT like feeling this out of control!!! And I am getting rather upset about the whole damn thing!" Isn't better to be upset about this whole damn thing than smoking? Do you remember how you smelled, how you had to leave and go smoke, how you had to make sure you had enough smokes to get though the night, how about that cough that got up in the middle of the night and while you up you smoked. You are not out of control quite the oppisite you are in control and the mr nic is haveing a fit. You take care and I'll say a pray for you tonight. Hurstk. Congratulations on your 78 days. Unfortunately quitting and the "feeling good about being quit" don't happen over night. When we smoked, we do so when we were happy, sad, angry, or any other emotion you can think of. Now that we don't smoke, we have to learn to deal with all those emotions without the crutch of the cigarette. Quitting is a process. What you are going through is perfectly normal. The emotional roller coaster is the worse part of the quit in my opinion. Go ahead and cry. Sometimes it really helps. Just don't smoke. Hurstk. I am very proud of you! :) You got through last night smoke-free! Do call your doc and/or pharmacist. They will be able to help with your options. and REWARD yourself for overcoming temptation! I hope today is looking better! Hurst, We understand your frustration. If you cut the patch the nicotine will evaporate as it will no longer be in a sealed environment. Unfortunately as moderators we are unable to give medical advice. Everyone will react differently to NRT's and your body is unique. Take the time to talk to your doctor and pharmacist about combining the two. You have 78 days under your belt and perhaps you need a little relaxation time to pamper yourself. Take a day to yourself and relax :) Believe it or not, you are doing great and this will pass! Keep Strong, Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.

hurstk, Of course you are upset! Your body is in withdrawal and it is telling you to give up! You are fighting this battle and are winning. Do not let temptation take away your 78 days of being smoke-free! You mind is racing at this time and is trying to find the best way to get rid of your cravings. What have you done in the past to overcome your cravings? Or, is this the worst day yet? Melanie ______________________ The SSC Support Team

hurstk, We understand that you are frustrated at this point in your quit. However, we need to inform you that you are unable to cut the patch. The patch is created to administer 7mg into your bloodstream over 12-24 hours. When you start to cut the patch it will not work properly. If you feel that you are not ready to step down to the 7mg patch, please contact your doctor to see what is the best NRT at this stage in your quit. Thanks for posting your concerns on the site this evening. We are here for you to get you back on track! Cheers to you for not opening that pack of cigarettes. We are sure it was hard for you! But you know what, you did not smoke! AWESOME! Hang in there, Melanie _______________________ The SSC Support Team
