Had enough, don't stop what you are doing. Let me repeat, do not stop what you are doing. When you think you can't take all this quitting business, do not stop giving up the booze and the smokes. Don't do it. For all you know, the next day could be the day that you say 'I FEEL GREAT!!!' It is going to happen. Which day? I don't know. But I do know that it will happen. And I do know that the rest of your life will be spent much happier without the booze and smokes. Keep working on making yourself strong, sober and smoke free. There is light at the end of the tunnel. And you CAN make it!! had enough... I was so like you. Plunging through each and ever day, barley making it, wanting to smoke more than anything in the world but refusing to give in. I refused to be a slave any more for five minutes at a time. One day at a time was all I could do. I felt I was losing my mind. On day 14 I wanted to quit my job and just go smoke one cigarette. Just one. I posted on this site and I held on tight to those around me with every bit of strength I could get my hands on. I cried a river of tears, I whinned, I moaned, I complained (both at home and in here). Everyone kept saying it will get better just hang in there. All I wanted to know was WHEN would it get better? I wanted someone to just speed up my meter and let it be over with. The days and nights were dark and lonely. I felt so very alone and like no one cared what I was going through at all. And I went through that day after day. Then it started getting better. The days started getting shorter and the craves started getting farther and farther between. I can't tell you when it happened. It is a process that seems to take forever to get through. What I can tell you is that the freedom from the enslavement of smoking is worth every ounce of agony you are going through now. Today my life is awesome! My entire world took a turn for the better the day I quit smoking. It took a while for me to realize that. I fought tooth and nail for my quit and it was the hardest thing I have ever done. It has also been the most rewarding. I wouldn't trade my quit for anything in the world. Hang in there and be proud of yourself. Look at the positive side of what you are doing. You are beating the worst addiction known to man. You ARE doing it! You are AWESOME! Whew! That was an awesome rant. I know that you are not happy or comfortable right now, but I want you to know that you are right where you "should" be. You are withdrawing from a horrid addiction, and it plays havoc with every part of your body and your psyche. Everything hurts, you wonder if ever you will feel like yourself again, you question whether all this pain and suffering is worth it. This is a very hard time of a quit. The initial adrenalin and excitement are over, and now come the blahs. Day after day just slogging through the misery of withdrawal. See my story At this point in my quit, I just had to blindly follow in the footsteps of those who had gone before me. In the face of ambivalence and plain not feeling good, I had to just believe those that were telling me that it would get better, that it was worth it. I read others glowing posts about how wonderful it all was, and wondered what in the heck was wrong with me. Now I am one of those people. Trying soooo hard to let newbies like yourself know that yes it DOES get better. I no longer think about cigarettes. The blues are gone. The pride of accomplishment is HUGE. The worry has left. I now wonder what took me so long. This freedom is delicious! Believe it. This is doable. This is possible. And worth every bit of agony. Come here and rant and cry and whine all you want. Scream and sleep and sob and ache. Just don't smoke and you will get through this. And be soo very glad that you did. Best wishes.
