lilbeer, It's OK! Working in a place where people smoke isn't the nicest thing to do, but if you really are ready to quit, it can be done. You have some built in support there by your side, and when you need to step away for a breath, find a way to signal your husband that you got to get away. Hang a sign around your neck that says "Don't offer me any smokes, and don't give me one if I ask...I QUIT" If it gets bad, go wash some glasses. Drink alot of cold water. No ALcohol. Quitting and drinking don't mix for a while. And when you get home from work, take a shower right away and if possible put your clothes in the washer. A little vinegar will help take the smell out of the clothes. Good Luck, we are here to cheer you on. (Don't be surprised if your husbands quit seems easier, I have found that alot of them don't really share what's up) Just hang in there it is very worth it in the end. Hi, lilbeer. Welcome to the SSC. I was going to suggest you seek out Jacko's posts, but Rusty beat me to it. :) I understand your concern about work. The degree of difficulty it causes, though, is determined mostly by your state of mind. If you go in expecting to be strongly tempted by every cig you see and it will be very difficult, then it probably will be. But if you go in expecting to be strongly tempted by every cig you see and expect you can ignore the temptation, then you will be much further ahead. 99% of any quit is a mind game, the intelligent you against the primitive, addicted you. Focus on the positives of quitting: the health gains, the financial gains, the status gains. etc. Do not allow yourself to think that you are depriving yourself of smoking, but that you are avoiding a future health calamity. Postive thoughts are your strongest weapon. I know you can, I know you can, I know you can... Stay close, stay strong, Lilbeer. lilbeer, welcome! Yes, you can and that is exactly the attitude you need. Be sure to look for posts by Jacko. He owns a bar in the UK and I think you will be very interested in his outlook. Work the program tools over on the left...they will help you design your quit for you! Stay close here and let us know how we can help!
