Hang in there bogbott! After 4 days you don't stink of smoke anymore. You don't want to buy a pack of fags and make yourself all stinky again, now do you? Don't make me swim over there to kick your bum. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 288 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,773 Amount Saved: $979.2 Life Gained: Days: 29 Hrs: 16 Mins: 31 Seconds: 19

Hey bogbott, How are you doing this mornig? Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Bogbott... the patch and the gum are not a magical cure all for the craves. You just have to fight your way through. It sucks! We all know that but you just keep taking it one hour at a time. Remember that. Just one hour at a time. I totally agree with Katy here. STOP telling yourself you want to smoke. Remember quitting is a "CHOICE" not a death sentence. The death sentence would be smoking. You chose not to smoke and that is wise. Keep telling yourself that you don't ever want to smoke again and you wont! When you post that you want to smoke, you must wait for at least 5 replies before you give up. OK???? 5 replies no matter how long they take. OK???? Get rid of the junkie that lives in your head. Yell and scream at the junkie to go away! I'm really serious here, not playing around. I screamed when I was in my car and wanted to stop and buy cigarettes so bad. I screamed (outloud) when Dad would go out and smoke and leave the door open. I screamed, I threw fits, I cried, I posted, I IM'ed my quit buddies, I went for walks, I cried some more, I read, I exercised, I did a lot of things, but I did NOT smoke! That is how you make it through. Just one hour at a time. Jan, there are two yous...the Junkie You and the Real You. The Junkie You is whining, whining, whining..."I want a fag sooooo bad....whaaaahhhhhhhh!" The Junkie You is saying things like "i want to get in the car and go get some now." Whaaaaaaa! The Junkie You, when no one responds immediately says "GUESS I WILL GO AND GET SOME THEN!" So there! I'll show 'em! Which YOU do you want to be in control of your life? All you have to do is choose. Pick one: Either "I choose to be a junkie" or "I choose to be in control. I choose to not be a smoker." stop telling yourself that you are "so close to smoking" those feelings of almost giving strengthen the addict in you....he sees a possible chance for take over looming ahead like a dark cloud. get our your list of reasons for quitting.....read them when the cravings come on....then practice the best old tactic of all.....distract-distract-distract! Remember this is your "choice" to not smoke....kick the demon in the mouth when he tries to come close. YOU have to remain the one in control.....and giving in to thinking about smoking, longing to smoke is in direct opposition to this goal. When this hell sets in, don't set still! Swing into action....a trip to get dog food was good....staying away from where they sell smokes is REALLY good! Stay active and think positive....you know this will pass.
