Waited an hour

Its getting closer to my quit date (August 1) and with the help of my smokers diary I noticed that I smoke the most when I first get up so this morning I waited....*drum roll*....ONE HOUR! One whole hour! For that first cigarette. I know it doesn't seem like much to those brave souls who have already quit but, you gotta understand that I literally light up while I'm still in bed :gasp:. My feet don't hit the floor without a cigarette in my mouth (how sad is that?). Anyway I was so proud of myself. I really think I can do this. Tina you have every right to be proud of yourself! This is HUGE! You have just taken your first step towards your quit. See you really can do it. What you do is you use those hours as stepping stones to the next. When I quit I counted every single hour for the first 4 or 5 days. I kept telling myself, I have made it XX hours, I'm not going back and starting over now. And I just kept doing that. Those hours turned into days, days into weeks, weeks into months, and now months have shot me over the one year mark. What is you have just done is how it begins. Be proud! congratulations tina, keep coming here and reading...have you done the online program here on the scc? That one hour is great..you are breaking an ingrained smoking habit that you have developed in the mornings. Keep it up.
