Well I hate to let you all down and most importantly myself, but I crashed and burned on Saturday night. I had a great time with my friends, but those little demons caught me. I decided not to beat myself up about it and realized that I can really quit. I did it for a few days, so i know I can do for good. The whole time I was quit I felt really good about myself. I set my quit for tomorrow. I made an appointment to have my teeth cleaned tomorrow so that will help keep me motivated. I have the house smelling good and airfresheners in my car, so I'm ready. In a few hours I will be free again for good. :)Wow, thank you everyone for all the wonderful advise and words of wisdom. I decided that I'm going to print out everyone's replies and keep them with me on Saturday. That way if I get discouraged I just pull you guys out of my bag and feel better. Thank you. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 86 Amount Saved: $20 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 23 Seconds: 23

I have a birthday outing this Saturday, that will consist of bar hopping and end at my home with a small group of friends. The guest of honor has a lot to celebrate and I don't want to be a downer for the evening. I have plenty of gum, candy and toys to keep with me, and I decided that I won't be drinking that night either.(someone will need to drive the drunks :( around) My boyfriend said he's not going to drink either so that I don't feel alone. Has any one been in this situation, who could shed some light on me? :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 71 Amount Saved: $15 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 6 Seconds: 49

Thank you Mr.Ed for your support. My boyfriend has been great the last few days. I tried to quit a few months ago using the patch and all we did was fight, this time around I went cold turkey and things are really good between us. He doesn't smoke so that really helps since we live together.

Squeaker, Only you know how strong you are or if you think you're ready to tackle this battle this soon. The choice is completely up to you! It sounds like you have a very good, and very wise, plan in place. Stick to the plan, and you will be fine! Just give yourself something to look forward to at the end of the night or the next day that you will reward yourself with if you stay smoke free. That way, you will have something to look forward to. I can't wait to read that you've made it through... because I'm sure that I will be reading that because you're going to do great! Crave the Quit! You know, the only advise that I would give is to have a really good time. Don't just go with the mindset that you're not gonna ruin it for others - don't ruin it for yourself either. You know? Really let go and have some fun - you deserve it! I really don't think that people need to drink or smoke to have a good time - in fact, i think that sober and smober people ahve a better time.. so go have a good time. I too have only allowed myself one or two drinks since my quit, no more then that. I do not feel that I want to put myself in a situation where my mind will not be functioning at it's best level. I don't have a problem being around people that smoke but to be around them and DRINK...can't do it yet. Be strong and I think you are wise to be the designated driver and how thoughtful is that boyfriend of yours. Big hugs to him and to you too for your great quit. Stay strong and have fun but don't smoke. Squeaker, Plan a reward for after the party. Something to keep you motivated to stay quit throughout the night. You can also try having virgin cocktails. Have fun! Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Squeaker, Your boyfriend is a good man! If you've got a partner's support it makes so much difference. Personally, I have no problem with drinking and not smoking, but I know it's tough for some at the beginning. all the best to you Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 191 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,746 Amount Saved: 1432.5 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 22 Mins: 33 Seconds: 41
