I am learning new ways to cope with the triggers of smoking it does usually pass as easily as it somes but the triggers can be so powerful like the demon you will lose your sanity for that split second enuff to make you run downstairs and light up!! However have been fighting the demon so!!

You all are an inspiration! It really is good to know that these triggers are gonna happen.....even 5 years from now. That scared me at first but now it helps to know that. Some validation is worth a million. Like Bonbon i think this may always happen with me....and thats ok as long as its just a flashing thought. Thanks Mr. Ed it's nice to know that triggers are still there but they go as quickly as they come. I have decided that this will probably happen most of my life, just not as often, after all I am a reformed addict...right. Thanks for sharing and giving me hope for the future. Mr. Ed, Thank you for sharing your experience with us! Quitting is almost like a reversion back to childhood, we've missed out on some things for such a long time. It's very exciting to get it back! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

On 31st July, I stepped out onto a real beach, found a nice sun lounger and snoozed for a while. Some time later I decided a swim in the sea would be good, so I walked down to the seafront and then.... the great smell of SEAWEED!! It was beautiful, but started off a powerful smoking trigger. Very powerful indeed. But then, I analysed it. This was my first smell of seaweed as a non-smoker and an adult. The last time I smelt it (properly) was as a child. A child who would associate the beach and its smells with happy, carefree holidays. I was just reminiscing! Oh and for you newbies, the length of this trigger, by the way. About a minute..... Life is good Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 184 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,538 Amount Saved: 1380 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 18 Mins: 38 Seconds: 34

Cybrduke & PrincessC - thank you for making me laugh! And Pen, the seaweed smells the same all over the world, but somehow smelling it in Fuerteventura or Long Island seems better than SarfEnd! take care Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 185 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,568 Amount Saved: 1387.5 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 22 Mins: 41 Seconds: 31

I had to give my dog a bath after my nose started working again. Never knew he smelled like that..... Phew! BAD DOG! I can relate to the short trigger Mr ed. I typically have something trigger a smoking thought and in about 10 seconds it's gone and I've moved on. It's really getting easy for me to maintain this quit at this point.
