Elaine, Where are you?!?!?! If you're sitting there reading, post and let us know how you are doing! Please, whatever you do, don't smoke! Yes, quitting is awful, but you ARE stronger than this addiction! Are you on any sort of NRT? What coping mechanisms are you using? Talk to us! Let us know how you're doing and what you're doing to get by. Hang on and don't let go! Taste the freedom! It is there waiting for you! Crave the Quit! CRY SCREAM DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET RID OF THE STRESS THAT YOU ARE FEELING. THEN TAKE THREE DEEP BREATHS. HOLD THE LAST ONE FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN. AND THINK WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT YOUR LIFE OR THAT CIGARETTE. YOU ARE FIGHTING FOR YOUR LIFE HERE. DONT GIVE UP!!! IT IS HARD. VERY HARD. AND EVERYONE ON THIS SITE KNOWS JUST HOW DAMN HARD IT IS. BUT SO IS TRYING TO BREATHE WHEN YOU CANT. MAKE A DECISION TO LIVE. I hope that you are okay, Elaine. Read and re read what everyone has responded to you, especially niks. You think that you can stop after one pack? Day 4 next week (after you smoke this pack) will be no different from Day 4 right now. You are just prolonging the process. I know how you feel..like your whole being is crying out for a nicotine fix. Let that show you what a powerful addiction this is; not drive you to go buy some and feed the addiction. You have to make a decision NOT to smoke. Right now, just lie in bed and cry it out or soak in the tub with aromatherapy and breathe deeply. The intensity will pass. Hang tough. Elaine, You have shown your strength and your wisdom in making a choice not to smoke when that crave seemed insurmountable. What an accomplishment. Be proud and smoke free for another day! Where are you going? Where are your coping mechanisms? Do not walk or get in there car or call a friend! We are here for you, don't ruin your four days. Use distraction and take a shower, have a nap or bake a cake :) Do what it takes to get over this crave and let us help you. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
