Stickin to it is right, its Thurs (well it is in the UK). Which means its almost the weekend. Then its Monday and another week smoke free. I know you wont smoke, no way. REmember when you threw 7 cartons in the bin, and they tormented you for days.. you got through all that stuff - and you shall get through this too! I know you wont smoke, because i wont either. Aw sorry I only just saw this post Darcy. I have bad days too. You CANT smoke! We are on the same day. Remember those first days? OMG we thought we were going insane? We probably were. Time for a reality check. Why did you quit? Did your boss not say that you would not have been hired if they knew you were a smoker. REmemebr when you HATED smoking when you thought it was disgusting? I remember when you said that. Keep posting and i will remind you every day. I havent smoked - so dont you dare smoke.. we are still going to be here smoke free at 550 days!!! Darcy I too have been in a very bad mood for the last couple of days but smoking is not going to help your mood when you realize that you have wasted 42 days of your quit and you have to start all over and go with hell & heck week again. Just stay strong and have faith that it will get better, it can't get worse, UNLESS YOU SMOKE. You are not alone. I find myself being a pyscho the past week. I too am just not happy. I talk to my husband about it and he just tells me I have been going through alot and that smoking for 26 years and then quitting is a huge deal. All I can hope is that it will get better as the days go by. I refuse to give up and have to start over at day 1. Today is a good day and I hope they will all start getting easier and HAPPIER for all of us. Stay strong - stay quit. I understand what you are saying about exercising and about hating it. BUT if you'd be willing to look at things a little differently it may help you ... more than you know. There are a ton of different things you can do to exercise. The trick is finding what you like and then incorporating it into your life. At 42 days I would strongly suggest taking up some physical activity as it will actually HELP you get though the worst part of the quit that you are talking about. Here are some tips to get you started: [quote]Getting Started The most difficult part of any exercise plan is getting started. Here are a few ideas to help you get off on the right foot: Get in the right frame of mind - exercise is going to improve how you look, how you feel, and how you interact with other people Get a good mental image - imagine how you will look and feel after you have been exercising regularly Get your priorities straight - exercise should come before the latest episode of American Idol or Survivor Take it easy - get into the routine step-by-step See your doctor before getting started, especially if you are overweight or have a heart condition The Level Way to Work Out Taking your routine through successive levels will allow your body to get used to the workout. Taking smaller steps will also help you build the stamina for later levels. This incremental approach will keep you from overworking muscles, getting sore, and giving up. Level One Stop using machines to do everything for you. Walk instead of riding in the car. Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. Find interesting places to take walks. Buy a couple of dance-music CDs or videos. When you feel comfortable with what you've done so far, move on to Level Two. Level Two Take a 15-minute walk every day. Smoking keeps us from dealing with emotions. It clouds our thoughts. It numbs us for short periods at a time. It is a crutch. It is a drug. Part of the quit process is learning how to deal with situations and emotions like a healthy individual and not like a drug addict. It take work. It takes determination. And it is worth it in the end. Because in the end you emerge as you truly are and not as someone that does not truly know theirselves because they are numbed by a drug half the time. Hey Darcy - God I know how you feel. A few years back I fell into that trap. I had 13 weeks under my belt. I was having a tough time. I was nasty and I hated everything so I said to hell with this and I started smoking again. The world was right again for about a week - and then, I was smoking and I hated everything and I smelled bad and I was nasty...... It didn't solve a damn thing. I was back at square one and I lost 13 weeks of quit. I learned that it was my addiction controlling my attitude. I learned that I needed to stop rationalizing with myself and telling myself smoking would make it better. It doesn't. I learned that once I stopped thinking that smoking would make it better, I stopped focusing on that, and I started finding better ways to cope. Eliminate the idea that having a cigarette will somehow magically make you a different person. It wont. Get that out of your head. Once it's out of your head, work on some way to deal with your quit. Sounds like smoking was self medication for you and now you don't do that, and it's getting to you. You need a new way to blow off stress. I'm curious, are you exercising more since you quit? That helped me tremendously. Darcy - whatever you do - don't allow yourself to belive the junkie thinking and just hang in there. It will get better. I promise you that. I am sorry you are having a hard time. The members have given some great advice, take what you need and keep it close. Don't use smoking as an option, take it out of the equation! Make a list of hobbies and activities that you love. Gear up to start something new and try different things. This will keep you distracted and occupied. You can do this!
