Just curious. I have three things stuck in my head from when I was young. 1. keep trying, if you don't quit the first time, keep trying until you get do, no matter how many times it takes 2. you'll stop smoking when your ready to 3. You have to hate the habit greater than you hate what you need to do to change it In my 20+ years of smoking, I have quit here and there for months and years... but this quit here, this is my 3rd shot in the past year. (quit aug 2005, started Dec 2005, quit April 2006, quit this one here June 26th) Anyone else keep quitting and got it right? ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 273 Amount Saved: $67.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 19 Mins: 43 Seconds: 27

I smoked for over 20 years and I couldn't begin to count all the times I tried to quit. None of them really counted because they never lasted more than a few hours. I always gave up. Why I didn't give up this time I may never know. I'm just glad I stuck it out this time. I just kept telling myself that as long as I didn't light that next cigarette, I had it made. The freedom is awesome! I wish I had quit years ago. I've missed so much living because of smoking. I have "tried" to quit at least 30 times, but probably between 40 and 50 times altogether. Each one lasting at least 11 days; most lasting about a month, and some lasting for many, many months. This time, however, I have the information necessary as well as the support to make it my final quit. It doesn't matter how many times you've done it before... all that matters is the last time. The one that sticks! For me, that's THIS quit! Crave the Quit! I'm going to pull a Clinton here and ask "How do you define quit?" If you mean any feeble attempt to cut back, or slow down, then I don't think there's enough space on the SSC's server hard drive to hold the number, LOL. If you mean attempts that started with good intentions and a true desire to not smoke anymore, then the answer is 3. Once when I was 18 that lasted about a week, once about 26 years ago that lasted just a couple of hours, and this one. The first one would have probably stuck, except I ran into an old friend who had just broken up with her boyfriend. She smoked and I was hoping to get lucky, so I bummed from her just to boost the companionship factor. I lost out on all counts that night. The second one, we were camping and hadn't known each other very long. I guess I started acting odd, so she drove me to a nearby store and bought a pack just to get me back to normal. I think she was afraid I'd turn into an axe murderer, or something. Since I was actually quitting for her, and she wanted me to start back, and I was beginning to really crave (so I thought, lol) I went with it. She's kicked herself over that ever since. This one I quit because I wanted to, because I was just sick and fed up with smoking and me smoking. I was so disgusted with it, I had no other option but to quit. Hey, lashes! I just noticed your at the end of heck week! Woooooooohoooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Congratulations! :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 413 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,263 Amount Saved: $1569.4 Life Gained: Days: 77 Hrs: 0 Mins: 30 Seconds: 56
