Okay the last two nights I have not been sleeping.
My boss probably loves it because I am at work at 6 am. But boy do I get tired in the afternoons. How long does insomnia usually last?
Navigator.

Hi Navigator.
Question. Are you on patches? I had disturbed sleep on them - in the end, I had to take the patch off at night to ensure a good night's sleep

Hi navigator -
MELATONIN... I suggest this natural sleep aid often and it works magic...with no drug hangover as it is all natural... It has helped many here ...
PLEASE READ LABELS on all natural remedies...with that said, I have had many, many of my clients and friends use melatonin and I use it too... You'll find it anywhere natural vitamins are sold...
It does work:)
Blessings and Sweet Dreams:)

Navigator and Niks...
Since I quit, I do not need the amount of sleep I use to. Maybe I rest better when I am sleeping that I did when I smoked. I too had trouble sleeping in the beginning. I also had headaches early on so I would take Tylenol PM just before going to bed. Still woke up early but I was rested.
For some reason, quitting seems to change every aspect of our lives. I use to alway go to sleep with the TV on but now find I can't sleep unless it is off. Little things I know, but it makes a difference. Things change. Keep trying until you find what works for you.

navigator,
When you first quit or cut down, you may find it difficult to sleep as long as you used to. Two things can cause this are:
As a smoker your sleep may have been interrupted by constant coughing and/or difficulty breathing. When you stop smoking, your body gets healthier and the sleep you get is more restful. So if you wake up suddenly at 5:00 a.m., you may think you are a victim of insomnia. You're probably not! Your body has probably had all the sleep it needs.
Smoking drains your body's energy. When you quit smoking you regain this energy. You may need fewer hours of sleep.
How long will this last?
The first few weeks after quitting.
Tips to help:
Try making sure you have a regular sleeping schedule. If you wake up in the middle of the night do some light stretches, or read a book to help you get to sleep.
If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable.
Keep Strong,
Josie
