Melissa, you have been given great advice. Welcome! One thing to definetly do is to throw away all cigs in the house and car. For me, it was frightening- the number of cigs I found laying around after I quit- it led to a slip b/c in a weak moment I ran across a half packs of cigs and thought what the heck. Smoking 1 led to wanting another, you know the story. Stay close :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/27/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 99 Amount Saved: $13 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 26 Seconds: 43

Hi Melissa, My advice (and it's only an idea) would be this. Research your quit (there's so much to be learnt from being here). Keep you cig intake low, but set a definite quit date. Decide whether any NRT aids such as patches or gum would help you. Once you quit date comes - no cigarettes! I think once you have it set in your mind you'll find it easier than you imagined. I too had a false start with my quit and was smoking 2-3 a day for a while. Once I started my quit for real, I didn't want to give in, no matter what! all the best Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 136 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,096 Amount Saved: 1020 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 18 Mins: 23 Seconds: 29

Hi Melissa, how are you doing today? please let us know how you are. We are all here for you, if you want to post and talk :) If you have started your quit program, start using those coping tools right away, they will REALLY help you ALOT! And post here as much as you possibly can. That is what I did my first 24 hours like you said you were going to start. That is sort of how my quit started as well. I went 24 and just kept going, with a little (really ALOT) of help from this super group of people here at the SSC! You have an endless amount of support here, best place on earth to be if you are serious about your quit ;) Many Blessings Sent Your Way! Eve :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 83 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 665 Amount Saved: $249 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 23 Mins: 49 Seconds: 26
