I need some advice, I have been using the patches on and off untill about a week ago and decided try and continue my quit without them. I am always forgeting to put them on and the odd craves that I do get I have been able to successfully work my way through them without too much heartache. So, I havent had a patch on since last weekend and I am going out with the girls tonight for a night on the town. (needless to say I am absolutely terrified)My question is, would it hurt if I put a patch on just for tonight or will it re-addict me to nicotine. I am scared that I may jeoperdise my quit if I put a patch on, or am I just being silly. I suppose the main thing is that I dont smoke. Not even one puff. So however I achieve that, so be it. I havent exposed myself to this kind of situation yet since starting my quit knowing it would trigger a weak moment for me. My friends are supportive but I feel like things just arnt the same now I have quit. Lots of wine and a packet of smokes was what we called a great night out. I have tried to get out of going but its 2 of their Birthdays. I made it through last week which was the toughest so far. My DBF took her own life. I found it very hard not to smoke through the tears and sadness. She was only 33 and just so beautiful. But I did it. I got through it without smoking. She would have been so very proud of me. Maybe she will be standing next to me tonight giving me the strength to stay strong and stick to my quit. Advice and well wishes are greatly appreciated!!! The nicotine is out of your body. If you want a cigarette at this point it is due to memory/habit. I personally would not reinfect my body with nicotine. But if you feel that you need to I would agree with Marie's suggestion on using the nicotine gum. I would also suggest to limiting your alcohol intake as you do not want it to impair your judgment and cause you to light up when you would not if you were sober. I would also suggest taking gum, hard candies, etc. with you. If it gets to be too much ... leave. I do not care who they are ... no one's birthday is worth you losing your quit. Stay quit Mummy22! oH MY GOSH, mummy. If you can make it through a suicide without smoking (I dont' know what DBF stands for), I would think that you have the resolve to make it through a night on the town. But, you never know; the nicodevil is sneaky. It is hard to say when one of those cravings can overtake us. If it has been since Sunday that you had a patch on, the nicotine is out of your body. But, like you said, do whatever you have to do to stay smoke free. Maybe, take a patch with you in your purse and if you get to feeling "on the edge", go in the ladies room and slap it on as you take some deep breaths. You can do it! YOu have 65 miraculous smoke free days! It is a great confidence builder to make it through a new situation that is a trigger to smoke! You are stronger now and more committed than ever to your new smoke free lifestyle. That was perfect that another quitter was there with you. The universe was making it a little easier for you! Congratulations, mummy!
