HELP!! NIGHT OUT WITH THE GIRLS!!!!

18 years ago 0 63 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thanks Danielle! I'm planning ahead. After my readings and postings this evening I am going to write out many inspirations from everyone so I can take them with me to the bar. When the cravings happen I'll quietly sneak to the ladies room and have a good read and remember the reasons why I must remain a non-smoker. I will think of all of you on the same journey - fighting for control rather than being controlled. I enjoy a good battle. I suspect I might be ambushed on Friday, but I will be ready. The GREAT NEWS IS...I'm especially excited today as I have made it through 3 glorious weeks. A few temper tantrums, eat the house out episodes, almost a crying jag but not really?? (that one was interesting). All is well considering I broke up with my boyfriend on Wednesday and feeling sad. Well, friends, I'm going dancing this Friday. Swing dancing. I'll need a good set of lungs to keep up with Linda. Mummy22 - Thanks again and to ALL OF YOU. This may sound silly but when my cravings hit...I think of your journey and I pray to be as strong as each of you. You keep my on my path. Love and light with deepest appreciation. Theresita P.S. I really love the special pictures of rainbows and prayer hands and flowers and congratulation signs etc. I wish I had the talent! BRAVO everyone! Mummy22: Thank you soo much for sharing your journey. On September 15th I'm going out with a gal I use to bartend with and she and I have a history of drinking lots and smoking lots. So, for the first time, I will have to bring my weapons, cough candy, gum, etc. I have quit cold turkey - Linda stills smokes so I will definately keep your journey in mind and carry it with me on the 15th so I can enjoy myself on the evening SMOKE FREE. Whoa, that's very cool how you managed to keep your strength. I feel more confident now and I will log onto this sight most of next week to keep your success and the success of others in my hip pocket so I can be encouraged and be given the strength to control the junkie within. Thanks so much again...and....CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Sometimes I just make a showing. I have to nurture my friendships even when I's rather stay home. I've just learned in the past few years that going out does not mean staying out all night. I can just make an appearance, and then leave. Mummy, I think you are a very strong person to have gotten through what you have. I agree with BF about limiting the alcohol, I too was invited to do a YA YA weekend with my girlfriends but had to turn them down I was only into my quit about 3 weeks and didn't want to chance it because as you say some great drinks and smokes always went along with it. You are going into this eyes wide open and I think you are preparing yourself right. Again take along some mints, gum or hard candies to help if it gets tough. You can also excuse yourself and just go outside and take some deep breaths and do some self talk. If all else fails make it a short night because again (agreeing with BF) nothing it worth losing your quit. On another note, have fun with your friends and be STRONG! Hi Mummy22, Wow my heart goes to you, as for your night out, one thing is sure, you must protect your quit. Here's an idea, instead of the patch since you have not used as prescribed, it releases nicotine very slowly in your blood stream, might not help fast enough if the situation is critical, you could take nicotine gum with you the lowest dose i think is 2mg and if the urge is too strong pop one in your mouth. I think it's better than smoking if all else fails :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 787 Amount Saved: $208 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 22 Mins: 3 Seconds: 59

I Did it!!! I made it through without a smoke. I took all your advice. I took the gum, a patch, I limited my alcohol and I left early. I even drove the car so that I couldnt drink too much. After all that I didnt need the patch or the gum. The pub, as all pubs in sydney now, was no smoking except in the pokie area. It made it so easy. No smoke in my face. One of my other friends there has quit aswell. She is up to 9 weeks now so we stuck together and gave each other moral support. I cant believe I went out with the girls and did it smoke free. My most feared circumstance whilst quitting and I have conquered it. Nothing can stop me now. Thanks for all your positive feed back, advice and encouragement.
