I heard about this vaccine in our support group. Apparently it blocks the nicotine from giving a signal to the brain, so you get no pleasure out of smoking, hense the quit. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 45 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 682 Amount Saved: $180 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 52 Seconds: 57

Hi Hurstk no haven't heard of it, but of course here in Canada we get those way after other countries. I have heard of one coming out soon by Pfiser called Varenicline apparently better than Zyban. But each company says theirs is better so...Carry on with your quit you are doing well :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 674 Amount Saved: $176 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 22 Mins: 22 Seconds: 6

I had read a bit about Chantix, but the article I was looking at today was about a vaccine called Nicvax. I assume it is suppossed to "block" the nicotine rush. It also had an article about how women absorb more nicotine than men and have a stronger addiction. On a news site today there was a very interesting article about smoking cessation and some new and up-coming medical breakthroughs. Also some side-bars on women and smoking, etc... that I thought was rather interesting. I had also been reading alot about the new drug Chantix...does anyone know if FDA has approved and if it is available? I'm doing quite well with my quit, thank you, but I do enjoy hearing about any strides made to make this task easier for others.

Chantix is new and supposed to be very good. My husband got a prescription from his doctor, but it is not in yet from the drug companies. I think it will be availabe in August. My success has been with commit lozengers. My husband didn't like them, but they worked for me.
