The Price$$$ of Cigarettes

19 years ago 0 2039 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I don't know about the price of cigs in the rest of the world, but here in Ontario I've been paying between 8 and 9 dollars a pack, depending where you go. So I'm really looking forward to saving that money. My son's girlfriend's mom quit a few weeks ago(and still hangin' in there) and every time she gets the urge to smoke, she goes upstairs and counts her money that she keeps in a jar now. I'm just lovin' that idea! When I get the craving, I'll count my money. It'll soon add up. I have noticed since I quit that I seem to have money in my wallet where before there was none. It's eerie, but cool. I use to smoke Dunhill and here in South Africa a pack of 20 Dunhill costs about R16 (well 40 days ago it did). I smoked on average 50 a day that is R40/day. Not smoking for 43 days equals R1720. Enough to buy a TV and a cheap DVD machine!! Not smoking for a year will enable me to buy a small second hand car or a brand new 4 wheeler (quad bike). Many of us have no idea. Hi Princess. Class has started and I started a stress reduction group for smokers, so I won't be around much anymore. Keep it going, girl. I dont pay much attention to the cost of sickarettes anymore, when i quit a pack was costing me $10.20 for a pack of 25, i was in a convenience store on the weekend and i saw that they were charging $12 for the same brand. I have no idea how i could ever afford to smoke :gasp: PrincessC :) x My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,275 Amount Saved: $642.6 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 3 Mins: 10 Seconds: 59

Jan, I can't believe they cost that much, I thought $5.00 here was bad. I just love that idea about counting the money. Thats why I like having the quit meter, it was such a reinforcement for me to see the cigs not smoked, and the money saved. You'll find something that motivates you that way to keep that quit.
