Heartache and relationship breakdown

17 years ago 0 962 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Niks - I'm so sorry about your relationship. As we go through this life there are people who are put here to stay and other people that come into our lives to bless it for a little while. I've found that the folks who leave - leave some life lessons for us as well - so we are better people for having known them (even old boyfriends). I'm sorry that you are so sad...However...on a great note you have realized for yourself that smoking will not make this any easier - in fact, would probably make it much, much worse - so I am so proud of you! You are such a strong woman! You have been through ups and downs and are continuing on your path - you are a Non-Smoker! Keep on coming here for help - that's what we are here for... awww shucks, I'm sorry to hear this, Niks. Of course, you know smoking isn't going to help. I went through a tough breakup early in my quit too (see herehere and here - if you're interested), so I definitely feel for you. We sometimes have to face the pain. We can't run anymore. Growing hurts sometimes but the pain teaches a lesson. It's our responsibility to heed the lesson and not make the same mistakes over and over. Take good care of yourself, Niks. Be gentle and loving to Niks. And make sure you reward yourself - you deserve it, this isn't easy. This is a book that helped me through some tough times - "Warrior of the Light" by Paulo Coelho - also, if you're interested. I hope you find your peace. Best wishes and don't be afraid to cry. Hi Niks, I can sympathise with your predicament. When my wife left I decided I was going to do everything in my power to improve my life. I decided that include quitting smoking. I read in another post, that you still want to live a full lifestyle and not let quitting get in the way of that life. I can sympathise with that too. I was like you except I didnt quit. Now, I wish that I had sacrificed a few months of fast living so I may have achieved more in the longer term. I quit one year ago, and I have not felt so fit and healthy for 30 years. Today, when I look back, I realise just how much I have missed in my life. I wanted to do things like climb mountains but lacked the energy and the motivation. I blamed it on getting older when in reality, it was my smoking habit and my mentality. I know there is nothing I can say that can easy your present predicament Niks but if you hang onto your quit.... and it does become a lot easier ... you will live your life to the full. Good luck with your quit :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 392 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,846 Amount Saved: 1881.6 Life Gained: Days: 64 Hrs: 21 Mins: 38 Seconds: 54

Niks you are not alone. We are here with you. Hang on to your quit. It is the most important thing in your life. You are absolutely correct that smoking will not solve a thing but I too get that junkie thinking that I want to run and hide from the world with my good old friend that was always there for me. That friend isn't the same now. I'm sure of it. I don't think smoking would do anything but make things worse. The hardest times to remain smoke free are the emotional upsets that life throws our way at times. The best advice I can think of is just hang on tight and know that you will get through this. You are strong and an excellent quitter! The things you begin to desire as a non-smoker are so different than what you wanted as a smoker. A chapter of your life may have just closed but there is a new one ready to be written. Get out your pen and start writing. I hope you are feeling better. Let us know if we can help. Niks, I'm so so so so sorry to hear that you're having a difficult time right now due to this breakup. However, you have an amazing attitude despite your difficulties. Time truly does heal all wounds, while it might not seem like it right now. Just remember that smoking will not help the situation and will only make it worse... but you know that already. :) You are a wise person and you will prevail through this difficulty. Just know that we, your quit family, are all here in support of you through this trial. Lean on us anytime you don't feel strong enough by yourself. We're always here for you! I hope things turn around for you soon. :) Crave the Quit!
