NO SUPPORT FROM HUBBY and CRAVING BAD RIGHT NOW!!

Ok Ann, you need to stay focused. It sounds as though you are really struggling. Dont let this demon get the better of you. YOU ARE STRONGER THAN IT. Try to distract yourself. If you focus too much on your crave (although I know it is hard not to) you will feel very overwhelmed and helpless. You need to stay a step ahead of it. Get your DH to go and get you some more lollies, go and do some gardening, read a book, go for a walk. Anything to keep you distracted. Just stay well clear of any shops. Stay strong honey. This will pass and every hour that goes by is an hour that is yours, not the nicodemens. Reclaim your life, dont let it control you. YOU CAN DO THIS. Watch that meter grow. Keep posting. I am with you all the way!!!! Ann, I think that you nned to be nice to yourself. I had the same problem. I was still having cravings long after people on this site and in the Allan Carr book says that they should be gone. I am still having a lot of craving. You might remember that I quit on june 1st and had to reset my meter because of a slip. I am still having pretty bad cravings. But we have to build up endurance and have faith that there will come a day that they will leave us. Have faith in the people here that say it gets better. Also, I am finding that it changes very quickly. One min. it might be really bad but soon I'll be wondering what was I thinking? So if I don't like the way it is right now, I just wait a while and it will change. Anyways, don't put expectations on yourself like "I will stop craving in two days" or whatever. Let it happen the way it was meant to happen for you. You are not alone because even with wellbutrin and patches, I still crave, they just take the edge off. Ann, I have really hated doing housework because it is soooo boring to do. Then the other thing is, I used to always have a cig going in the ashtray while I did it. It had been hard to do it, so my house is pretty messy but I figure if the kids really cared, they could do some of it themselves. (they don't care) For this time, while I am quitting smoking, it will just be messy. No one is going to arrest me for it, and if anyone cares they can clean it. I am just doing the absolute minimum (laundry and dishes). Ann, I am beginning to see that too! You have to realize that one of the "things that I can not change" that you have to accept is that you can't allow yourself to think about smoking as a possiblity. I had to accept these things (and I add new ones to my list everyday): I can't smoke just one cigarette or one puff. No one is going to invent a safe cigarette. They aren't going to cure all the diseases caused by smoking. I am not supernaturally protected from the effects of smoking. Smoking is not ok just because it is my only vice. I am a not a born smoker, it is not a part of me. I am a nicotine junkie. I don't have the right to smoke because I am an adult, I am mature enough to make better decisions because I am an adult. Heaven is a non smoking area. Smoking is just not an option. You may think of some other things. The junkie in you trys to convince you of the opposite. You are the junkie, and you can tell yourself otherwise. It's not easy and I think it is going to take some time. I am finding that if I think about it, in my most difficult moments, I can pinpoint it down to one of those core beliefs of the junkie. Then if I can just have the presents of mind to disagree with that core belief, the craving will usually subside. Let me know if you can think of any more, I add to my list every single day. I know how you feel. I think I am having a harder time than a lot of other people too, and my daughter is in treatment for self-harm. What you are describing sounds a lot like what she says. That the physical pain will take away the emotional pain. But she actually did it and did it a bunch and it didn't help. Then she kind of became addicted to it. Now she is tempted to do it even when things are doing good. Even just because she is bored. That is why we had to go into treatment for it. So don't do it, it won't help really. I think we are all individual and many of us have a hard time with this. But we must persever. We are depending on each other, and our loved ones are depending on us. I need you here with me too! Ann: I was having the same problems with my hubby but he smokes too what about yours does he smoke. anyway he was still smoking in the house no matter how much i bugged hi. then people on this site suggested that i ignore him that he was probably jeolous. Well athey were right. he now smoke outside or in the garage. However last week i noticed he left a cig with a lighter on the counter before he went to work. I couldnt believe it. so I took the cig stuck it under his pillow and attached what he thougt was a love note: and put: "Look under your pillow, just a gift to show I care" Surprise he didnt get mad but realized how serious i was about quiting. So what we do we have to do for ourselves yes be selfish its your health and well being thats what i keep telling myself My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Ann, You've got 21 days under your belt. You've identified past triggers but what are you going to keep those triggers from going off. More importantly, you are working so hard... reward yourself with something you love or by doing something fun. You deserve it! Keep persevering!
