Not a good 1st day

Wife just called from the doctors, my son is doing better, had to peel of some skin from his shoulders and behind his ear. The doctor is saying there should be no permanent scarring from the blistering of the skin. Thank all of you for your concerns. It shows that the people on this forum really care for people that are complete strangers only tied by the fact we all want to be and/or are x-smokers. Seems like there is never a good day to quit, but if I can survive yesterday. I am good for the long hall. Work was crap, running behind schedule on half our jobs. Wife calls, my son who's 8, ran into her while she was boiling water and taking it to the sink,he ran into her and got his shoulders poured on and we were in the emergency room for 3 hours. Luckily, it only got on his shoulders and little bit of his neck with 1st to 2nd degree burns. Go for a follow up on Wed. Just called the wife and she said he is doing fine. My Mom, Sister, and Sister in Law are there trying to calm my wife down. She feels so bad and feels like it's her fault. Accidents happen. Anyway, I still did not smoke through all this. Thanks for listening. Freebird, I am glad your son is okay. And you are correct, accidents happen. I fully understand what your wife is thinking/feeling. I have 2 kids myself, and have done the exact same thing. I was lucky though that I missed everytime...... You can get through this. Please remember your coping skills. You made it through your first day (and what a day it was!). You will make it through your 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th, and so on. Promise that if you feel the need for a smoke, you will come here first, and post. Wait for 5 replies. By then, your craving will be gone. Let water be your sidekick. I never go anywhere without a water bottle in hand. The hand-mouth connection is always there. In the beginning, I slept, ate, cried, and ate Werthers candies every second. I also came here, day and night. I read probably every post there was. Keep it up! You are doing great!! I know you will be o.k. ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 205 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,165 Amount Saved: $670.35 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 12 Mins: 51 Seconds: 51

Congratulations on making it through a tough time Freebird. Smoking would not have made anything any better. Be glad you didn't give in to the temptation. You are right... You can make it. One step at a time. Keep taking deep breaths. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 452 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,051 Amount Saved: $1582 Life Gained: Days: 39 Hrs: 21 Mins: 12 Seconds: 46
