Oh, I soooooooo relate to doing this out of stubbornness and not out of desire or motivation when you just can't seem to muster up any desire to continue. But here's the good thing, whether you stay quit because of true desire (which I still believe you have... it's just deep down there at the moment) or whether it's because of being too darn stubborn to give in to the nicob@stard, it doesn't matter! Quit is quit and when you don't want to stay quit, muster up that stubbornness and hold on!!! You'll be soooooooo proud of yourself when you are over this hump! And you will be soon! THe open market and a good funny movie sounds like a great way to spend the day! Glad you made it through the night just fine! You're a winner Marie! Of that, I'm certain! Crave the Quit! I understand Marie. Sometimes, certain periods of the quit can be quite difficult for some. I remember feeling a sense of "is this it?!?! What's next?" sort of thing. I think it's because in the beginning, we get so pumped up. We put all of our emotions and all of our hearts and souls into quitting, that when we finally start to reach a comfort time, it's like "is this it?" But I also think that this low time is a good sign... I think it means that comfort is on the way soon for you. You have to go through the tunnel in order to get to the other side... and I think that you're almost there. :) Hang in there! Crave the Quit! Marie, Don't fear. Many people experience a "low" point at or around 100 days. Some do not, but MANY do! I'm sure this is just the 100 day hurdle that you're going through. As with most things in life, this too will pass. Just keep on telling yourself that you don't smoke anymore and hopefully it will sink in. One thing you might try is distraction. Distracting yourself from this "conversation" that you're having with yourself is a good way to keep from having it. And you mentioned that humor worked, so how about watching a good comedy movie when you're feeling the blues? Did you reward yourself for 3 hard-earned months? If not, I think you're probably due a reward and this could be your brain telling you that it needs to be rewarded for this awesome thing that you're doing for yourself! So give yourself a reward! And if you already have, then how about planning your next reward at 100 days? That's only 6 days away, you know! Planning something fun and special, even if it's not expensive, can still be a lot of fun and can take your mind off of the 100-day hurdle. I hope this passes for you soon, and I'm sure it will! Congratulations on an awesome 94 days!!!! Crave the Quit!
The rain explains it...I always get a bit blue when it is dark and rainy. That's when I grab a book and go out on the porch swing (got a tin roof there) lots of pillows and a blanket. Read, nap, read, nap...
Did you know that women's moods are more influenced by the weather than men? (No, this isn't a joke!) Lack of sunshine is why so many people (majority of them female) suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)[nice acronym, eh?!] especially during the winter months. In the last year there was some additional research released on this phenomenon -- overcast days affect women's moods much more often than men's. Guess that's why I nearly had a "melt-down" today... It's been cloudy, foggy, damp and dreary all week. I ran out of nicotine gum and was so "down in the dumps" I couldn't even muster the strength to go to the store and get some more. If there had been any cigs in the house, I am certain that I would have given in and smoked them. 'Ol Nic was having a hay-day being part of my pity-party, today! :p Thankfully, late this afternoon the weather finally broke, and the sun came out. I made myself get dressed, go for a spin in the car and stopped by the store. Never gave a second thought to buying those cigs. Just got another box of gum, shopped for some greeting cards to brighten some others' day, and used the $6.30 in returned pop can deposits to buy something nice for dinner tonight. Am going to seriously give some thought to buying myself one of those "daylight spectrum lamps" that mimic natural sunlight so no matter what the weather outside, it'll be harder to get so down in the dumps. Perhaps that will be one of my future rewards. :) If the weather truly gets you down, Marie, maybe you might want to look into it, too! ;) Best, Livadia My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 89 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,799 Amount Saved: $445 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 12 Mins: 5 Seconds: 40

Sure do Windy, and the blues are finally dissipating, I was blah this morning but I posted and posted and this afternoon I had a nap while hubby was at the golf course (didn't feel like going) And now I feel much better than yesterday so that's a step up. I'm gonna go soak in a lavender essential oil bath, light 3 candles, the smell will be divine, now that I have regained my sense of smell. So one day at a time , tomorrow will be even better. Keep on quitting Windy, from reading your posts, you're doing it , one day at a time :)Marie
