Junkie talk

Sounds like that study was written by a smoker! The best time to quit is when you decide to stop smoking and no study will help you with that. Your poor friend sounds just like the rest of us did at one time. Hopefully someday she'll come around before its to late. Well well, I can recognize it easily now. Last week, my best friend told me she is going to stop smoking before september. We talked today and she told me she read a study that says summer quitters don't have the best statistics in terms of staying quit. So I ask ,according to the study, when is the best time? Answer: March... So I guess she is not going to try before March . A couple of weeks ago that kind of talk would have torn me apart, i.e. Oh my, I'm quitting in the summer, what if I don't succeed. Well proud to say, it does not affect me now, there is never a best time for everybody, there is a best time for each as individuals and whenever you quit sure is the best time. So you quitters don't give up quitting you have chosen the best time to do it :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 42 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 644 Amount Saved: $168 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 16 Mins: 3 Seconds: 34

Marie, Thanks for sharing this little tid bit of information. I completely agree that there is no best time except for the one when you feel ready, committed and determined to change your behavior once & for all! If anything, one would think it would be easier to quit during the summer months as you have a wider variety of distractions to choose from. You're quickly approaching 50 days! Start planning your reward... Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

There is all kinds of junkie talk. Just proves that we can justify anything if we try hard enough. The best time to quit smoking is right now in my opinion :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 390 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,808 Amount Saved: $1365 Life Gained: Days: 34 Hrs: 9 Mins: 48 Seconds: 48

Hi Marie, Well, just keep encouraging your friend..maybe she will come here and read a bit or do the online program. It could deepen her resolve to quit as soon as she feels prepared and not when some study says that she should. A big congratulations of six weeks!
